"Mourning the man who was a second father... and more."
...Yes, I went there.
But given how much of the current Death of Batman storyline has been monopolized by Batfamily infighting, it's interesting to see the question of Batman's legacy over and settled between his heirs in the space of three panels. Dick has his reasons for wanting to take up the cowl (namely it seems, wanting to be closer to Bruce by keeping a part of him alive, symbolically), but he's willing to listen to Helena and he respects her feelings on the issue enough to put it to rest in spite of how doubly sad it must be to let that go, too.
On that note, is there any indication of what Dick's adult life as Robin might have looked like? Did he float off on his own to haunt an Earth 2-esque version of Bludhaven? Did he stick around Gotham, working more independently? With no obvious rift to drive him away, how much was he around while Helena was growing up?
