Given all the stupid things that have gone on in Spider-Man comics since. . . oh, I'm going to say since the Clone Saga, and given that an especially large number of them have gone on in recent years, this wouldn't surprise me a bit. I hate the way comic books cheapen death, but at this point the damage is already done. No one is going to have to revise their "Top Ten Lamest Spider-Man Moments" list.
What kills me is this. If they were going to end Peter Parker's marriage, and if they were going to bring Gwen Stacy back, they could have actually connected the two things, and given us a year's worth of emotional conflict and realistic human characterization. But of course the goal was to make Spidey seem younger, and a divorced Peter Parker is even worse in that regard than a married one.
