Secret Warriors #8

Osborn shoots the Fury-LMD, and out of it comes Phobos.

"Now it's out of your hands. I don't care if he's your kid or not... they're all dead! Everyone one of them!"

That one panel with the little smile, no lie, I couldn't help grinning.

I'd like to see Bullseye take on Ares, then watch Osborn mop up his remains.

I wonder what Bullseye thinks of Ares relationship with his son, considering Bullseye's own abusive relationship with his murderous father.

Probably nothing good. Bullseye has be shown to go out of his way to destroy families.

Motto. I was so cheering for him to try to take Ares on. It'd be funny for one panel.

So, why on the cover does Phobos look like a ten-year-old named Franklin Richards, but in the comic itself he looks well into his teens?

Bad perspective on that cover.

Isn't he actually supposed to be young like on the cover, though?

I was looking at the cover and thinking, "Where did Nick Fury get a SHIELD uniform sized for an eight-year-old?"

there a reason Ares doesn't cut Osborne's head off his neck for that comment?

Ares gave his kid a head-start, not a get-out-of-jail-free card.

any reason a god should be okay with a mortal threatening his son?

Eh. It's good training. You know how Zeus is with his kid. Go fight that lion. Go kill that immortal snake beast. Go clean those stables.

Because he's from a culture that doesn't hold the same regard for life as we try to.

so the ability to kill someone isn't a sign of some power over them. He isn't a mortal arrogantly claiming the right to kill a god?

From Ares' point of view, were Norman to succeed then Alexander would presumably have messed up and deserved it.

And, again, Ares said they'd be coming after him when he let the kid go.

Not taking the threat seriously regarding any real danger to his son, perhaps? The big guns Osborn has in his stable to send on a god-killing mission would be... Ares himself, and the Sentry. One can imagine how effective the latter would be against someone who can heighten and trigger anyone's fears.

ALEX: makes shadow puppet of a bunny on a wall
SENTRY: OH NOES! The Void's come back and is going to kill EVERYONE!!!1! zooms uselessly into space

I must say, Norman is collecting quite a rogue's gallery of extremely powerful people he's unwisely threatened and pissed off. Morgana Le Fay, Namor, the Fantastic Four (not to mention Franklin Richards)... is his game plan to hope they all wipe each other out in the crossfire of trying to get him?

I have an embarrassing crush on Phobos. And I adore Ares. About the only things I like in post-Civil War 616 are the Gods - Herc, Ares, Phobos, Thor.

I'm off to buy the first trade of this. <3

Presumably Osborn should be feeling the effects of Deimos right now, were he sane. Has Deimos shown up in Marvel at all? God of Dread doesn't have the zing of Fear, I suppose.
