Felicia actually grew up enough to be attracted to Peter WITHOUT the Spider-Man mask
Bingo!
Fans can gripe about EVIL THAT MEN DO for understandable and justifiable reasons, but Kevin Smith's series said that Felicia knowing Spider-Man's identity made HER A BETTER PERSON. She knows she childishly "freaked out" over finding out Spider-Man was "ordinary" (or not Cary Grant).
During CIVIL WAR, Aunt May said the Black Cat was a bad influence on Peter. I wanted to reach into the comic and tell her it was just the opposite: Peter was a good influence on her.
I mean, Peter has trusted Felicia to look after Mary Jane during "major events" on multiple occasions. That is a LOT of trust.
Finally, I wonder if Felicia remembers she dated Flash Thompson for a while, ostensibly to be closer to Peter and then wound up falling for Flash.
