Those who live in glass houses should not provoke middle-aged men who dress up as bats.

Ollie's still ahead. No dead sidekicks, no psycho anti-hero sidekicks.

"No one has".

After reading this comic I have used that as a comeback many times.

OWNED. Seriously, I love this. Ollie's got no right to call Bruce on that, since at least he tried with Jay. Ollie...Roy. And Sin. Enough said.

Ouch! That certainly is some overwrought verbal abuse. I'd never seen this before. Not surprised people are surprised that Ollie and Bruce used to be written as friends/something close to friends.

I really like the second page, second panel. It's like a... a Dr. Phil moment or something. "I acknowledge your pain. And your coping mechanism, but..." And then the gloves come off.

LOL! I acknowledge your pain and your coping mechanism!

And I can't help but think how that answer seems to not work within Bruce's own family.

HA, Ollie.

Thing is about Ollie? I like him. But he is probably the least self-aware superhero there is. I think it's what his preachy bluster is really all about: trying to hide awareness of his own flaws, not so much from others but from himself. It's like what Henry Miller once said about people obsessed with the good of the world: they're running from something they can't deal with in themselves.

Now, I LIKE that Ollie's an outspoken liberal, though I'm a bit skeptical of it coming from a rich boy like himself(even without his money he's a rich boy, one who doesn't realize he's slumming). But just the same, I think it's where a lot of it comes from. On the positive side, it also makes him guilty enough to do good, so there's that.

Also on the positive side, it makes him a a more fully fleshed out character.

Yeah, it's the sheer smug sanctamoniousness of Ollie which always pissed me off, even back in the 1970's. Batman has his flaws, but acknowledges them as flaws, Green Arrow just skips right over his own.

I think that without the guilt, Ollie would have no motivation to do what he does. He's a person with a great need to be humbled regularly.

I kinda think Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, and Tim Drake might take exception to being called "sociopathic fruit flies."

Seriously, Batman is 3 for 5 on the sidekick score (maybe 4 for 5 depending on which side you place Cassandra).

Ollie is...1 for 3? Though Roy eventually turned out OK.

What happened with Ollie and Sin though?

You just know if this was Vertigo or something, Batman would've ended that with, "So shut the fuck up Ollie" or the like.

But yeah. Like others, I can't stand Ollie's self-righteous bullshit. And it's nice Bruce called him on it.

Hey, Bruce, don't jinx it. Because if Tony Daniel had it his way, you're not standing too far from the 'I knew my sidekuck had ISSUES, and I made them worse". Which is just another reason to hate on Bruce's message to Jason in BftC.

Now, as far as friendship between Ollie and Bruce is concerned, I read this and it seems obvious to me that these two have to trust one another a lot. They wouldn't forgive one another the bitchiness overwrought verbal abuse if they weren't friends.

But yeah, I love that scene of pot and kettle and rushing through the streets of Star City to get to Jason and Mia and managing their stress each in their way. It reminds me of family.

God. Rich people. So terrible. They shouldn't even exist.

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; what? Roy and Jason were POOR? They are forgiven. It's awful rich people that ruined their lives.
