Marvel Year in Review 1989: SHRA and Captain America Shot...
Why does that sound familiar?

ETA: I am so sorry about that. The size should be much better, but still (hopefully) readable. My double apologizes to people on the feed. I have no clue how others are able to get their lj-cut to transfer to the feed.

In 1989 the Meta community was faced with being forced to register. So what did they do? Fight amongst themselves? Make angry speeches while fighting their former friends? Tear apart the streets of New York fighting each other?

Well, no, not really. They did something worse they testified before congress.

As we can see while some people positions are...compatible with their later ones...these positions are not black and white pro and anti.

Hello there Gyrich! Are you still a bigot? Why yes you are!

Reed likes showing off. Also 'She-Thing' looks about ready to whack that 'cat' on the nose with a rolled up news paper. (She-Thing? We had a She-Thing?)

And suddenly the current Captain America's body armor makes a lot of sense. Also John Walker? Got better and would be running around again in the Captain America uniform in New Invaders in 2004.

And the best part of any Marvel Year in Review - the classified.

The book has 48 pages. So I think I can post a few more scans if people would like to see the Kathy Dare stuff or the Best/Worst dress column by Jan

Sorry about that. They should be better. I posted then went "OH SHIT" because I forgot I scanned them so they'd be readable.

I've been trying not to whine, but could someone fix the LJ feed?

I've been trying to determine why some lj-cuts work and some don't. I'm getting the impression that if you close it, ie , it fails, but I'm not sure yet.

I've tried it both open and closed. Neither have worked. ;_;

We -had- a She-Thing. Her name was Sharon Ventura. Last I heard, she's still around, but I think she got replaced during Anal Skrullvasion.

Great articles! The description of the hearings is a miracle of dry humor. "the Vanisher, who then vanished" and the matter of fact listing of supervillainy. You'd think a story about congressmen attacking people would be more noteworthy.

Always loved those classified ads. I even swiped the concept for a science fiction mag I worked on in college.
