Sleuth!! The Ryuseki Newspaper Detective?!
Who: Mitsuya, open
What: Mitsuya is nosy.
When: The day after the magic incident, a bit after school.
Where: Ryuseki hallways.

Mitsuya's brief visit to the club she occasionally called home had left her in despair (at least, as much despair as she could be in, which wasn't much). As she saw it, her mission was to entertain and illuminate, to give people a taste of something apart from their dreary lives, not to elucidate more of that dreaded drudgery.

But Shinozaki-san had threatened to pull her column altogether if she refused the assignment, so to her dismay, she was stuck with it, and it with her. The thought hung over her like a nearly literal cloud.

But she was not one to sink into despair for long, and halfway to her locker, she'd figured out what she needed to brighten her spirits: an adventure. A new place to explore. Somewhere with an air of mystery, where rumors circulated like the wind.

She knew just the place.

"He's a teacher, not a watchman. He should have other things to do with his time, like whimper about his low wages or drink away his income to drown the sorrows of his low wages, not skulk around an old building..." Takeo mused, walking along, trying to be nonchalant. "I don't know if it was foolery or what, but Mitsuya-san jumped from the second story of a building. I would know. I was there. She fell on me. It's safe to conclude that, unless she's part of the percentage of our society that finds life UNBEARABLE, something made her jump."

At that moment, Iwata caught sight of the two. Ah! The disciplinary committee kids... He approached them, still looking hurried and a bit tense. "Hey, Utazawa-kun, Akiyama-kun, have you noticed anyone going in-- what happened to Akiyama-kun's arm?!"

Takeo didn't even blink. He'd been thinking about a good answer in case he was asked. "Repairs at the disciplinary committee room haven't been doing well. One of the glass panes is broken and I was trying to fix it. I asked Terumi-san of the student council and he said there were some spare panes on the storage shack," Takeo gestured over his shoulder, "over there, and then I cut myself."

Tsuchi was convinced that he had to be silent. Takeo, in the way that he was getting used to, was already coming up with all the answers. He told himself that it would suit himself better if he kept quiet. He had to observe that the lie they were telling was growing also.

After that, reminding himself that he had to tell his friend what he'd said was simple. After they'd done all this work, being caught out when Iwata-sensei talked to Terumi would be silly.

"Ah. It looks nasty..." Iwata said, voice trailing off as if he wanted to say more, or keep the boys, but he couldn't just stop Takeo from having that cut checked. And besides. "He said he saw a girl..." Iwata mumbled under his breath, prior to shaking his head-- catching sight of Utazawa for a moment. He had suspicions but...

No, no... he had another lead to follow, and this would look totally wrong! "Alright, go get that looked at, Iwasaki-kun. I'll talk to Terumi-san later about that window of yours," he said, running off shortly after.

Nothing was said then, at least for a while. The atmosphere was so odd that he felt compelled to say something. He studied his friend quizically, and with great reverence.

He told him, "Man, you're real smart with the truth."

"In the realm of verbal weaponry, I'd rather the truth anytime. There's no chance of having it blow up on your face as it can happen with lies, anyway," Takeo said, gesturing then for them to walk faster. Briefly, his act dropped, and his demeanor was more of a worried high-schooler than a little tyrant. "Well, Iwata-sensei was acting decidedly weird... Awfully suspicious. I almost think I'm comforted in knowing Araragi is probably far away now, given how she can come and go at a moment's notice."

He shook his head. "I'm going to the nurse's office. You come along. I'd rather no one catch you unguarded. Then we'll go to the committee room... and find out what that thing IS."

Tsuchi stared at the bundle in his arms in some perplexity, "Sure."

He would have like to say that he was quick enough to protect himself. His associate, however, seemed to know him better than most. He was wondering by now what else Akyiama could know without being told. And, as he walked after his friend rather hastily, what could be done.

In the end, he carefully held the object close as they left.
