Arthur and Tenel Ka
During Star Trek Mission
Tower 2
PG
Complete |
The Hapan had had quite the time with her young daughter. With Jacen on mission, Allana was more than a little grumpy. She missed her father, she always did. “I miss him too my little love” she said leaning down brushing fingers through the girl’s curls. She had her hair, but the girl was a Solo. It was so very visible to anyone who knew Jacen, or Jaina for that matter. She didn’t hear anyone behind her as she struggled to get the stroller down the steps with her one hand. She might have to resort to the Force. Arthur was still finding it hard to adjust to this place full of technology he never could have imagined. So many wonders to see, he likely hadn’t spent as much time on the network as many of the others had. He’d spent more time exploring the surrounding area and it’s possible adventures than anything else. Which was exactly what he was planning on doing again this morning, when he discovered a red-haired woman struggling with some form of carriage for children. And, of course being who he was he couldn’t resist the urge to try and help. “Can I give you a hand…” Arthur started, as he approached the woman, trailing off as he saw that she only had one hand. “I..umm...would you like some help” He said, a little bit flustered, and internally kicking himself for his idiocy. Tenel Ka smiled slightly as the man blustered, embarrassed. She didn’t mind what he’d said. She’d have had a hand made years ago if she’d wanted one but it was a lesson to herself. A reminder not to be hasty and arrogant.. “I would be very grateful” she said trying to steady the karking thing. She had miscalculated the step. “You are, Arthur, yes?” she asked curiously” Relieved, Arthur smiled, as he moved to help her get her load down the steps. Grateful for the healing he had been given by Lissa and Illiana. Healing by normal means would have still resulted in stiffness and pain. Even if he never would have let it show. “I am, yes.” He replied, as he put the carriage back on its wheels. “I’m sorry, I’m afraid I don’t know your name.” “Well, it’s very nice to meet you. And thank you for the help” she told him, proffering her hand once Allana and her stroller were safely on the floor. “Tenel Ka Djo, but Tenel Ka will suffice. And this is Allana.” she said with a smile. “She’s been in a mood since her father went on mission” “The honour is all mine.” Arthur assured her with a grin, taking her hand and lowering his head to plant a kiss on her knuckles. It was the way he was taught to treat a lady afterall. Before crouching down to grin at the small ginger child. “Hello, Allana. Father’s on a mission, huh?” He asked sympathetically. “My father used to do that a lot when I was your age, as well.” He was royalty. Even without seeing it on his paperwork she knew. He had the air of nobility. But when he bent down to speak to Allana she knew he was a good man. Allana seemed to agree and giggled, little hands lifting up. “I think he would be lost without them. He likes being with us obviously but he needs to be active, Needs to be doing something. It’s rather in his blood. How are you finding being on a field team?” Arthur placed his hands within Allana’s reach. Allowing her little fingers to grab his, as he looked up at her mother. “He and I have something in common then. I was charged by my father with protecting the kingdom when I was younger. So,quests to protect the people of Camelot have been a large part of my life for a long time.” He paused, considering her question. “It’s different, that’s for sure. They have been training me in their modern weaponry. But, I can’t help but prefer my shield and sword.” “Oh I understand that. When one is used to a particular weapon and style of fighting it tends to remain a preference. But it is important also to be adaptable.” The Hapan smiled as she watched the man indulge Allana who was more than happy to pull his hand toward her. “My Kingdom came to me through tragedy. The death of my mother. I had no wish to be Queen. But life, I believe, has plans for all of us.” “That is the tragedy of our lot, I suppose.” He mused. “Those of us who inherit the throne do so through the loss of a loved one.” And, while part of him missed Uther. He had learned that he was a better king than his father ever was. That his father was not the man he’d thought he was. And, that possibly, Camelot had been in better hands with him. Standing, he smiled indulgently at Allana, rustling her hair slightly, before turning the smile back on the Hapan. “I should leave you to your plans for the day. I’m sure you’re both very busy.” “I have a little to do yes, helped immeasurably by your help your Grace” she said, deciding to go with formality given that they had been talking about their kingdoms. “Thank you again for your help and I hope to repay it someday. If nothing else Allana approves of you.” She glanced down to her daughter who was still giggling away to herself. “I hope to see you again soon” she told him, setting the stroller toward the town with a wave back as she left. |
