Jill Dragomir & Emily Mastrano February 3, 2017 Starting at Intake PG/No Warnings COMPLETE LOG |
Jill couldn’t believe it when she got the alert that her mom was here. She stared at her phone, at the message from intake, and then she saw the post. She was here. She was really here. Pocketing her phone, she ran towards intake at top speed, going as fast as her legs would carry her. Moments later, she was being shown into a room where she found her - Emily Mastrano, her mother who she hadn’t seen in - she didn’t even know how long. It had been ages. Months, at least. “Mom!” Jill cried, tears of joy welling up in her eyes as she rushed toward the woman and threw her arms around her. Emily still wasn’t sure how she’d come to be here. She’d been leaving rehearsal, something shiny on the sidewalk had caught her eye and she’d picked it up. Now she was in a place called Atlantis and her daughter was here. When Jill came in, she threw her arms around her and returned her hug. “Hey you! It’s good to see you too!” For a while, Jill just hung on to her mom and didn’t let go. She was almost afraid to. Even after she’d been able to come out of hiding at home, she hadn’t been able to see her parents as much as she wanted and it had been so long since she was home. “This is going to sound weird, but what was going on at home for you?” she asked when she pulled away. “Rose came to the house, we talked about your birth father,” Emily replied. “Then you were gone, it’s been months since I’ve seen you. I had no idea what happened. What….tell me where you’ve been.” She was confused. The fact that she was here was confusing enough but it seemed that there was a great deal she didn’t know and she wanted Jill to tell her. Surprise showed on Jill’s face at the answer. “Mom, that was years ago for me,” she said, knowing how insane it sounded. She’d been 15 when she’d found out who she really was, but she’d celebrated her 18th birthday in Breck. She’d be 19 later this year. A part of that was owed to time travel, but it still made her old life in Michigan feel like a lifetime ago. “I’d guessed as much,” Emily said with a smile. “You look older but you’re every bit as beautiful as you always were. I’m so happy to see you. Clearly there is a lot that I don’t know.” How had she missed so many years of her daughter’s life? It was insane and she had no idea how she’d come to be here. Jill blushed at that, her cheeks turning pink. “You’re my mom,” she demurred. “You have to say that.” It meant a lot to hear it, though, and Jill was just as happy to see her. “I guess I have a lot to catch you up on,” she said. She almost didn’t know where to start. “I guess you do. Any idea how long I have to stay here?” she had answered all their questions, they had examined her and pronounced her healthy and she was ready to go. “I don’t think there is anything else to do, they’ve poked and prodded me and everything works. I suppose they were just waiting for you to get here.” Jill grinned at that. “We can go whenever you’re ready,” she said. “I can show you around the city or we can go get some lunch, whatever you want.” Jill knew all these people being here was some kind of fluke or glitch, but she was so happy her mom was here. She couldn’t help hoping she’d get to stay. “Lunch sounds good. I can’t remember the last time I ate,” Emily laughed. “Probably in some other dimension or time zone or whatever all this is but yes, food. I’d like that.” “Great!” Jill’s smile grew and she looped her arm through her mom’s as she started to lead her to the door. “I know the perfect place and I promise to tell you everything,” she said as they headed out. |
