Oliver was having a bit of a hard time adjusting to the place that was referred to as Atlantis. Mainly because there was a lack of Quidditch here and Quidditch was what Oliver had been associated with as long as he could remember. At least he had his old friends here and he was hoping that he could catch up with all of them soon. Since Angelina and Alicia were like the sisters he never had. And Katie, well, that was complicated, but he was definitely glad that she was here. The other thing that confounded Ollie was the fact that someone had the exact same face as him. Rogers something, since Ollie hadn’t bothered to get his name because of the sheer and utter shock. But maybe this was the norm, since the only people he knew back home that had the same face were the Weasley twins. And even then, it was hard to tell the two of them apart. But to dissuade his woes, he went to a local bar in town. One of the patrons advised him to try the local drink, the Blue Bubbles, claiming that it tasted like their favorite rum. Which in turn caused another patron to disagree and so on. It was the barkeep who had to explain that the Atlantis drink had a tendency to taste like your favorite drink. Clearly, he was skeptical as the drink smelled rather sweet, but he bit the bullet and took a drink. Immediately, surprise overtook him as the liquid took on the taste of Ogden’s firewhiskey. He was half tempted to spit it out and see if he could get another glass. He knew that his mind wasn’t playing tricks on him. But still, it seemed peculiar, especially since others said it tasted like gin, rum, or even ale. Though he decided to clear his mind of anyone else’s preconceived ideas as to what it tasted as and took another sip. Again, Ogden’s firewhiskey took over. And Ollie clearly decided he needed to get this drink more often, if anything, to give him a taste of home. After seeing Oliver’s name on the list she went in search of him. Originally trying the housing with no luck she thought quickly about what Oliver would do. “A drink.” She told herself as she skipped a couple of times before settling into a nice jog. It took a couple of places and some pretty funny looks as she ran around Atlantis looking for her friend. Eventually she saw his back as he was taking a sip of Blue Bubbles. “Oliver Padraig Wood!” Alicia said trying to mock anger in her expression. “Where the bloody hell have you been? Do you have any idea how late you are?” She added before breaking into a smile and running up to him wrapping her around him in a tight pull. “You big idiot!” She added with her hand hidden on his shoulder. Surely, Oliver wasn’t aware that some of the patrons were some of his best friends. He was just still wallowing over the lack of Quidditch in town, since he had a one-track mind most of the time. But really that shouldn’t have surprised anyone. He was taken out of his reverie when he heard Alicia’s voice. Or at least a voice that sounded like Alicia’s. And he turned around and smiled. There was no clue that the Blue Bubbles he drank tasted like Ogden’s. Then again, he knew how to hold his liquor. “Well, you know that I do like to make an entrance,” he admitted to Alicia, disregarding the where he had been. Since he had been well here at the bar and didn’t know how long others were in town. “But you’re definitely a sight for sore eyes.” "I don't think I'd call coming to a bar to sulk because there isn't any Quidditch counts as an entrance. I had to track you down." Alicia told him as she let go of him stepping backward. Even though she had let go of hugging him, she wrapped an arm around his shoulders. She was on her toes, but she didn't even care. She waved over the bartender ordering a pint of ale. "So, what's the last thing you remember from home?" She asked turning to look at him. “For me, it is. I could’ve lamented publicly over the network about it, but I doubt that anyone would know what it was,” he admitted, glad that he could just spend some time with Alicia. Though he was thankful for the ale, even if he did enjoy the Blue Bubbles. “Last thing from home. Well, you know me, it was right before a match Puddlemere had back home,” he admitted, thinking about the fond memories of it all. At least he didn’t disappear during the game play. “And it was 2006. Since that may help somewhat.” "Actually, Kates, Ange and I have spread the good word of Quidditch around a bit." She told him with a shrug and a smile and a nudge. "We're from about a year apart." She said out loud. "Katie and Ange are from a bit earlier, though. Which is a bit weird but not so bad." Alicia told him. "Yeah, people come from all different points, this place is a bit weird." Letting go of him she jumped onto the seat next to him turning to face him a bit more. "I've been here for about half a year now..." “Well, everyone needs to know about Quidditch,” Oliver told Alicia, pretty much in a matter of fact tone of voice. For him Quidditch was his life. Sure, now he was a magic researcher, but he still needed a hobby. “As long as I don’t run into an eleven year old Harry, I think I should be fine.” Hopefully, that’d never happen, but if it did, he thought he could adjust. “So, since you’ve been here for that long, has the town rubbed off on you,” he asked, hoping that he could be content here. But then again, he only knew the tip of the Atlantis iceberg. "There aren't any 'can't share info' type stuff here, everyone pretty much knows about us, or where we are from. Okay, not everyone but there are a lot of people." She said with a shrug. "There are books and movies even." "Yeah, it's not bad, a little weird, actually really weird. Did you know that Merlin is here? Not Merlin from our world but from a completely different world. It's utterly mad." She said with a smirk. "Although Merlin is really nice." “Huh, interesting, which makes me a bit curious as to what they say about me,” he said, being rather teasing with his remark. He had a good idea that the books would’ve revolved around Harry, same with the movies. But he could’ve dreamed. “Heh. Makes me wonder what he thinks when we are constantly saying Merlin’s beard,” Ollie added, that amused him way too much. “But as weird as it is. I’m glad you’re around. Even if I don’t know if there are many people from back home here.” "That you love Quidditch, you are epic at long-winded speeches, you know, the normal." Smirking she couldn't stop the giggle that followed. "We all love your speeches Ols." The added tease was followed but a full laugh. "I didn't ask." There was a hint of being disappointed about it. "But he doesn't have a beard, at least yet and he's not some old bloke either, he's a lot younger. Probably just adds to it being a bit odd. Hey, it's not just me. Katie and Angelina are here. Draco and Pansy as well." She said the last to with disgust. “Hopefully they managed to catch my stunning good looks as well,” he told her, teasing now. But he listened as she spoke about who else was here. “Ew, Slytherins.” But that was a given, especially with his long-standing rivalry with Flint. But he wanted to focus on something else. “Mind if I ask you something?” "Eh. Well, that could be debatable," Alicia teased with a grin. She nodded at his comment about Slytherins even though her mind slipped to memories she was starting to have. "Have I ever minded?" “True, maybe they matured somewhat, but I doubt it,” Oliver admitted; he wasn’t trying to be judgemental towards them, but he had dealt with so much flack from the Slytherins that he couldn’t help it. “I figured as much. But it never hurts to ask,” he added, trying to figure out how to address what Rose said. “Though I was told shortly after I arrived here that hopefully I was a good kisser for Katie’s sake.” Which led him to wonder, how many variants of back home ended up with the girl in question? "Those two, probably not," Alicia agreed. She didn't add anything about how she thought others might have. "Awe!" She said with a small laugh. "Who said that?" Alicia could guess a few people who might have said something like that to him, but she wanted to know. "So, what's the actual question? If you are good enough of a kisser for Katie or if you lot have a thing somewhere?" And with that in mind, Ollie pressed the topic away. Best not to woe Alicia about how he felt about Marcus Flint and the other Slytherins. “Rose something was the one who said it,” he told Alicia as he sheepishly wondered how to press the topic forward. “Probably both of them, since I’ve fancied her for quite some time.” And he wasn’t sure if the feeling was mutual. “Hathaway,” Alicia said with a smirk. “Sounds like something she’d have said.” A knowing smile crossed her face before she let her face drop in mock shock. “Really? You have! I never would have guessed, you have a thing for our itty bitty Kates? I’m shocked!” Alicia teased. “So, man up and go sweep her off her feet already.” “Yeah, that’s the one,” Ollie told, since he wasn’t sure of anyone else who weren’t in the Harry Potter world. At least he didn’t know of Rose Weasley quite yet. “I could try to sweep her off my feet, but there’s one little problem. You know that I’m shite when it comes to wooing women and sweeping them off their feet.” Unless the woman in question was named Quidditch. “Oliver Wood!” Alicia said as she got a serious look to her face. “Katies is one of your best mates. Walk up to her, grab her face and kiss her.” It was a bit forward sure but Alicia had a good idea how it might go. “Don’t over think it.” “When I have not overthought anything? It’s what makes me, well, me,” he admitted to Alicia, trying to put the inevitable off, out of the fear that it wouldn’t go as planned. “But let me guess, if I don’t you and Angie will both gang up on me.” “Course we will, that’s what we do best,” Alicia teased. “What better time! New world, new rules, new battles, go talk to her.” “True. But first some liquid courage to soothe my nerves,” he told Alicia. Maybe drunk Ollie would make the situation easier. |
