It was before dawn when she woke up, slipping out of the familiar four poster bed in the home that comforted her as much as it made her miss the rest of her family - the family they'd put together. Edmund and his siblings, herself and Nico, Anakin, the other demigods - none of which would have been possible if she'd stayed at Camp Jupiter. And now, after the battle, Atlantis had seen fit to send her memories from home.
She would tell Edmund about them, but first she needed to wrap her mind around them. She left a note for her husband, though she was confident he'd know where to find her. She wrapped one of his sweaters around her as she made her way to the stables, until a familiar chestnut pegasus came up to her and nuzzled her. "I know Scipio," she said, fishing an apple out of her pocket and handing it to him.
She stroked the pegasus, leaning her head against him. "Jason.." she breathed out softly. "And all the others… so many lost… just like you, Skippy.."
Her eyes felt moist. The news of losing Jason had hit the hardest. They had shared so much and for years she thought her fate was tied up with his. At least she hadn't lost Frank. And Apollo… the memory of Apollo brought a smile to her face. The fact that he had thought he could break Aphrodite's curse. When really, she didn't need him. Or anyone. Aphrodite's curse had haunted her for so long and now, she knew she was free of it back home - which was incredible.
She had never imagined herself leaving Camp Jupiter, but joining the hunters made sense… though she was fairly certain Hylla would have some words for her. And so would Nico, probably. She didn't know how he'd react to the news. But she would have to tell him. Nico… whose absence she felt the most here in Atlantis. Nico who would have lots to say about her being pregnant, she was sure. The memories felt almost like a different life - her past and not hers. She had found a way to heal her heart, to break Aphrodite's prophecy in a way, just like she had with Edmund, in all these worlds they'd found themselves in. She couldn't go back, not now. Not when they were building a life here, a family.
Her hand rested on her stomach and she felt Helena moving. "Soon, mija, soon you'll join us." She wondered if Helena would have any powers as a legacy, if Nico or Jason or Frank or Thalia or even Apollo might show up here.
"We've lost so many, haven't we?" she asked Scipio as the pegasus nuzzled her. "But we keep on going, don't we? What choice do we have?"
