[ Delivered by grumpy house elf to one Peter Quill, handwritten in excellent penmanship ]
Mr. Quill,
I hope this letter finds you in excellent health and in bright spirit. I realise that we've never spoken before, on account of my being a wizard and you being a... alien... Muggle half-god? I'm sorry, I'm not terribly clear on the specifics of your background. But what you are doesn't matter; it's who you are. And who you are is as lovely and bright and fixed as the stars among which you adventure. I've always felt trapped - by circumstance, by expectation, and by foolish mistakes of my own making - but with you by my side I feel as if the flying might never stop, that the only thing more exciting than finding yet another new planetary system would be taking off for the next one holding hands with you.
I confess to know little about you other than what I just looked up - isn't that mad? Perhaps it is your influence, to make me wild and impulsive where previously I had felt so lost to the tar pits, stationary and filled with fury. Your adventures are an inspiration and your wit is as sharp as the rib of a star. I could be here, stuck in the muck, if only you could wink once for me so far above. It would be enough.
I find your name to be apt - for a quill is what I write this missive with, and a quill is what I shall use to own my ardent affections. I hope we have a chance to write an entire adventure together.
With admiration,
R.A.B.
[ An hour later, delivered by an EVEN GRUMPIER version of the same house elf to one Peter Quill, handwritten in stressed-out penmanship ]
Mr. Quill,
I apologise profusely; I have no idea what came over me. Suffice to say I don't have any particular feeling for you, positive or negative, and I certainly have no desire to "write an entire adventure together". I wish you well on your-- life, and hope that you would be kind enough to forget my earlier ravings.
Sincerely,
R.A.B.
