NEW YORK – After months of stirring controversy in both public and private sectors, representatives of the United Federations of Nations announced today that the Super-Power Registration Act was passed into law today. The act – which has been spoken of heavily in the media over the last four months – has been at the forefront of debate, sparking lawsuits from the American Civil Liberties Union and right to privacy groups.
The registration program kicked off in New York today with the public registration of local millionaire Tony Stark, who came to the ceremony in his Iron Man armor. This is just the first in a globe-wide initiative, including local rallies and a government financed publicity campaign aimed in getting local vigilantes to register of their own volition.
News of the act’s passing was met with mixed reaction from the public. With some calling this a necessary step for the security of the nation, while others have called it a blatant breach of trust between government and the individuals who risk their lives protecting the people. Certain groups have gone so far to say they will protest this law until the end. How long can the UFN sustain the Registration Act? Only time will tell.
