Our country may be at peace, Dearest Reader, but that doesn't mean we are left without excitement! Things are certainly heating up at the King Street Assembly Rooms, where Lady Worcester's particular friend, originally thought to be no more than a country mouse, turned out to be quite the fire starter! But could this burning beauty be setting a fire in other regions — namely, in the heart of one recently-engaged Sidney Parker, seen swooping to her rescue? Desperate debutantes may wish to take a page out of Miss Heywood's playbook!
Speaking of recent engagements, the newlywed Mr. and Mrs. Knightley are rumored to be en route to spend their honeymoon in Sanditon. One can't help but wonder if certain fathers-in-law will also be in attendance?
It is rumored, too, that eligible bachelor Edward Fairfax Rochester may be planning a trip to the seaside. All unmarried ladies do well to take heed, although be wary of any young and enterprising governesses in tow. This Author looks forward to shedding further light on the mysteries of the Rochester household, now that they are out in the open!
With the exodus of eligible men from Town must come the eligible women, of course. But travel in groups, for it has come to This Author's attention that the road to Sanditon is lately the favorite of footpads and highwaymen! Surely the scourges of our society cannot be in league with Mr. Parker, although there is no denying they profit by his paradise? Certainly it has been whispered in This Author's ear that it is not the noble working men of the resort who are privy to the Parker purse!
Finally, it appears that Lord Babington shall at last be taken off the market. None other than Miss Esther Denham, whose beggarly beauty has long been overlooked, is to be the lucky bride. And what of the Denham fortune? For it is rumored that the future Lady Babington is the dowager's new favorite to inherit. Shall we soon crown ourselves a new Queen of Sanditon?
