Ed's eyes widened when the girl's hand burst with light. Huh, so that was new, guess he did run into something other than a vampire tonight. "I knew something wasn't really right the first time I walked in here," he confirmed, reluctantly dialing down his attitude just a bit. "For light? I got it covered." Ed clapped his hands then placed them on one of the pews, transmuting a makeshift wooden hand held torch. He reached into his pocket and took out the lighter he carried around and lit the tip. It cast a strong enough light to be able to see around them.
He walked down to the pulpit and waited a beat. He didn't know whether to take the door straight ahead or the door on the right. He glanced over at the girl expectantly. Although he felt something, clearly whatever she was made her a lot more in tune with the ominous feeling. He could search the church all night but it'd be a lot quicker if she could lead him directly to the source of the problem and he didn't think he should waste time.
She walked to the right and Ed moved to fall in step with her, lighting their way. He gave her another curious look. Ed was a scientist at heart and just because he was dealing with something didn't mean there wasn't room for curiosity. She was a species he hadn't encountered yet and there was a plethora of questions he had for her, starting with what was she?
He was on the brink of asking but he recognized the path they were taking. "We're heading towards the basement." Edward had left the doors open on the way out so he just followed that and soon they were in a back room where he'd staked the vampire. The stone floor was still jutting up from where he'd trapped the vampire by the legs and the pile of dust was left unmoved. As far as he could see, the place was undisturbed with no trace of anyone having come through here but he didn't doubt that the girl was right about the two of them not being alone.
"You can walk away right now if you want, I can deal with this."
