Alex didn’t know how to feel about Allison, not after she’d all but threatened Stefan. Alex liked Stefan, he was the first friend she’d made here. But Allison seemed alright, she just couldn’t fight against her nature. Before all of this, Alex thought witches and vampires were the stuff of fiction. She had no idea how much bigger the world actually was. All of her monsters had been human. But like humans, she supposed that vampires could be both good and bad, and people like Allison were needed to keep them in check. It sounded to Alex like Allison had died doing that, and she didn’t envy her. Alex didn’t even know why she’d suggested holding a party. It was a good way for people to get to know each other. Of course, there would be drinking and well, Alex wasn’t a drinker, she respected that other people had that right. She wouldn’t judge them. She should be the last person to ever judge anyone. She figured she’d be alright being around it. People drank around her and she wasn’t tempted, usually. But this place was different, she had been acting erratically in the beginning, and hoped it would not continue that way. Since it was around dinner time, Alex had picked up some takeout for them to eat while they went over plans. She’d pawned her jewelry she’d had on her at the time of her abduction and had been able to make money for the party. Her wardrobe and the rest of her jewelry from home had shown up on Friday morning, so she had more to barter with if she needed to. A little after 5:15, Alex knocked on Allison’s door. She hoped things wouldn’t be too awkward, after the last time they’d spoken. Stefan not being here would probably make things easier but they did need to find a way to all work together. All of this was not about what they wanted, it was about keeping everyone here safe. She stepped back from the door, balancing the bag of food and waited quietly for Allison or perhaps her roommate to answer the door. |
