WHO: Gabriel "Sylar" Gray, Molly Walker, Noah Gray, and Mattie Parkman (NPC)
WHAT: Molly has a hunch how to calm down a fussy Mattie.
WHEN: Mid-afternoon
WHERE: Apartment #406b
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress
For nearly two weeks now, Mattie had been crying more than he'd been doing much of anything else. And most of the time, when he wasn't crying, he was fussing, whimpering, or looking generally miserable. While it had puzzled Molly at first, once Matt had explained that he hadn't been the one in charge of his own body for the past several months, it had begun to make sense to her. Clearly, Mattie missed the man who had been in charge of his dad's body. However, any time Molly considered pointing such a thing out to Matt, she always thought twice and kept her mouth shut instead.
It wasn't that she thought she was wrong. She was pretty sure, in fact, that she was right. But she knew it wouldn't matter. Right or wrong, the subject of Sylar - especially when it came to the way he'd done things while masquerading as Matt - was strictly Off Limits. And after a few days of hinting at the subject, Molly had finally dropped it and simply begun hoping that Mattie would eventually re-bond with Matt and settle back down.
He didn't.
Granted, there were times when he seemed at least a little okay. He didn't scream all the time of course. But more often than not, it was obvious he was scared, confused, and just generally not at all happy with the new arrangement. So finally, Molly decided to take matters into her own hands.
She had been tracking Sylar's location for several days, on and off. Unlike before, when she'd been frightened and using her clairvoyance to keep an eye on him so as to avoid him, now she wanted just the opposite. She wanted to know his schedule so she could purposefully find a way to cross paths with him. The only problem was, for the last few days he hadn't even been in the Safe Zone.
This morning, though, when she'd checked, she'd discovered he was back. And, what's more than that, he was literally just a couple of apartments away.
Her job was now much easier. It took very little convincing to get the babysitter to agree to let her take Mattie on a walk to try to calm him. Especially when she explained patiently that she was simply going down the hallway to one of the neighbors who was really good with kids. It wasn't a lie, she rationalized as the sitter opened the door for her and double-checked that she didn't need the stroller. Sylar was good with Mattie. And, unless Molly was way off base, he was probably the only one who could calm the clearly miserable boy too.
So with a smile and a wave - the sitter was all too eager to shut the door behind them and enjoy a bit of peace and quiet - Molly made her way two apartments down. Pausing at the door, bouncing Mattie lightly on her hip in order to keep his crying to a soft whimpering, she quite calmly raised her hand and knocked.
