[laughs] I can read minds you know. Maybe not here, but anywhere else, it's not a problem.

And yet you got yourself bombed. You already knew people hated your guts. You should have gone to the offensive before they attacked.

There were a lot of people. And I was a little... preoccupied.

Sounds to me like you're too soft and that's it.

That's your opinion.

I guess. Good luck with your whole world peace business, anyway.

While we're chatting and all, I got a question for you.

Know anything about something called morphogenetic fields?

Morphogenetic fields? Vaguely. It's part of evolutionary biology. Still, I don't think there was much research on it as far as I can recall. It was the 60's though.

That's a start anyway. What do you know?

It began in the early 1900's by a man called Alexander G. Gurwitsch. To him, we were not simply celled organisms, but field-cell organisms, a sort of evolving consciousness in said field. To put it simply... it was like the cells in us evolved without consideration of thought or process.

Evolving consciousness in a field, huh. Shared one...?

I'm not sure. It didn't get very far. It's similar to the theories on mutants, especially since they both occur naturally. I suppose it could be linked to a certain genetic code...

Think so...? I guess that makes sense.

I'm not sure how morphogenetic fields work though. Being conscious is one thing, but conscious of what, I don't know.

Who knows. Maybe people can send and receive information through it.

Hmm. It doesn't sound too far-fetched. I suppose if the cells are conscious, they could have developed some form of communication. But how would people tap into that?

[giving this some serious thought, trying to pierce the information both he and Akane have]

... I dunno. But maybe a situation of serious danger could trigger something like that. And maybe you would only be able to pick up information sent by someone connected to you. Like a relative [pauses] ... or someone you have a strong emotional bond with.

Heightened emotion has been known to trigger instinct.

... Are you and your sister connected through morphogenetic fields?

I don't know. But that doesn't mean I can't. What do you want to do about these morphogenetic fields?

I don't know how far research has developed in the future, which is where I'm assuming you're from. But ethically, it would be difficult to ... test the conditions for such a theory.
