[...y-you guys...]

...Do you want her to be able to move on to another world, no matter what the outcome is?

Of course. It would be kind of pointless for any of us to "help" her, and then leave her to rot in caves like the other Judges. Not only that, at least one of our teammates is depending on her to take them with her. She's actually given us the option to escape too, but we've declined.

No, I'm talking about what Claude said.

Even if after everything she would still harm others, would you still ask that we allow her to leave and be free to do that?

I think she deserves a shot at freedom, yes. But. . .mm, I won't say I believe she'd completely abandon her old ways, and she most certainly deserves to be punished, but I do think she'd tone it down, or at least try to. W-we're kind of working on that.

She isn't interested in tracking any of you down to harass, at least. I can say that much.

It's not about whether or not she deserves a chance at freedom. It's about choosing between the innocents that she would harm –– in a world where death is permanent and there is no "Persona" to help with psychological damages –– and the person that would do them harm.

If we let her go and she acts recklessly and hurts others, then we will be at least in part responsible for their suffering.

I won't ask you to agree, but please at least understand what you are asking if you say others should let her go. It's asking them to allow innocent people to be hurt and to carry the weight of that decision for the rest of their lives. Even if she does deserve freedom, the price is extremely high.

You don't think I've thought about that? Where we are, as terrible as life can be, very rarely is anything ever permanent. Everyone--including the people she's hurt--get off a lot easier here, trauma aside. In the "real" world, she probably would have been tried for the death penalty ten times over by now.

I know the risks, but I also believe in her. That said, I also understand where everyone else is coming from. I may not like it, and won't approve, but I've already said that she deserves to be punished.

Really, I thought the neutral silence would have gotten that point across.

I apologize if you feel unfairly targeted. I meant to speak generally... not everyone in this discussion could really be called 'neutral' about it.

(I suppose you could called that judgmentally bias neutral instead.)

Well, she's our patron, but also our friend. It gets kind of tricky when you say "Let's all kill this person for something they may or may not do once they leave due to horrible but reasonable bias."

Now you are being unfair. More than anything, Claude wants to save her. And worrying that a person will continue the normal pattern they have kept up all of this time isn't really a "bias" either. It's a valid concern.

I'm not asking any of Monoceros to agree to anything, or even accept it –– just to understand why others feel differently, because it's not unreasonable that they do.

Just because she's our patron doesn't mean we don't understand how other people feel about her, you know. It isn't as if we've ever been safe from anything she does here.

If you do understand how other people feel, then please also understand... that talking about it in what comes across as flippant tone does nothing to help the impression of otherwise.

[s-sighs]

Sorry if it came across that way, it just gets tiring after a while. And after having this conversation dozens of time with metaphorical brick walls.

I just said it was a reasonable bias and concern. . .but in any case, as annoying as the situation is, I'm glad everyone's trying alternatives instead of immediately pulling out a hammer.

Besides, to us, having to repeat ourselves over and over, it's like no one's trying to understand where we stand in all of this.
