Who: Hydracula
Where: On top of SKULL MOUNTAIN
When: Day 241, afternoon to evening
What: so about that undead judge-controlled zombie raptor and its friends

[Those out and about in the early afternoon may have seen the combined members of Hydra and Vulpecula (minus a few) coming home from the east, looking dusty, occasionally bloody, and more than a little haggard.

A few hours later, wounds are cleaned up, the unconscious have been put to bed, and the occasional figure in green or orange can be seen on the hat's rim. One, in fact, has been there almost consistently, sitting on the beams of the pulley and looking east.]

[Cleaning is revealing a lot of nothing cuts and bruising for a lot of it, but the chest and back have a wide, deep swath where it looks like sheer momentum, a lucky angle and speed was all that kept a raptor from biting him in half. The rest are simple slashes, deepest being along the arms...]

... That's what must have given me that star- FUCK! - start. ... Sounds like a hell of a price.

It had no effect on the judge's own, but I held the rest of the pack back for long enough to order Lucky protected and the ceiling brought down.

[Holds Sparta's shoulder on the pretence of steadying him, squeezing perhaps a little firmer than required.]

Scowl fled the blast with Chika, Zelgadis flew alone, and I carried Arson and Boomer. The dust and debris gave us enough of a start to break free—we managed to stay close together after that.

During the blast?

Everyone was moving before the first stones hit the floor. Arson and Boomer were the only ones who saw what became of Lucky, but Beast's rage was enough to inform us that we had been successful.

Of all that raptors are capable of, there is little in their abilities that would allow them to dig.

[Holds Sparta's gaze . . .]

Unfortunately, I do not know where he is.

[. . . and drops it.]

This outing seems to have proved particularly stressful, and the past days have not been kind to him either. If he has already retired, it may be best to let him rest.

Tch. I'm not going anywhere.

You got the antiseptic right? Lets just get this part over with.

I do, yes. And thread&mash;the gash along your side is too deep to leave unless you assured several days of rest.

Please let me know if, at any point, you find the reed's effects insufficient.

There's a Judge frothingly pissed off at us. There IS no way to assure several days.

[And just nods slightly at the last.]

[Starts, then, working more efficiently than compassionately.]

No. Though that brings to mind a question I have been pondering since our return here: given the extend of his rage and the fact that he is a judge, why are we still alive?

[Even with the painkillers, there's really not going to be any answering for a while here.

It really isn't until there's a break - and several moments into that, for more supplies or merely the first set of stitching done that he catches his breath]

Messenger's game... ... was weak, 'cause he hadn't run any...

Beast never did.

He appeared once previous to this. He gave his name and, if he is to believed, a warning of some kind. That appearance was followed by a group of raptors attacking the blanks of the North Block. According to Scowl, given that it was well over two hundred days ago, only a handful of those here now experienced it.

[Time spent with leather and fabric has paid off; the stitches closing the gap in Sparta's side are neat and almost ruler-precise.]

Given Messenger's deterioration simply over the time we have been here, that Beast has survived at all is curious.

That was something Scowl had not mentioned.

[Stitches done, he ties off the string, and starts bandaging Sparta's side.]

Unfortunately, that returns us to the original question. As far as Beast himself seemed concerned, our trespass lay in hunting for sport, rather than survival. That we care not for their lives, or for 'the balance', and our punishment will be an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and a heart for a heart.

So it was only the live ones who followed you?

[Holds him like that for a minute more, letting him sleep deeper into sleep before shifting him back.

The wounds on Sparta's arms are cleaned and bandaged next, And Zexion pauses after that, slipping off his jacket and wrapping it around Sparta's shoulders before laying him down on the bench. Sparta's A-T come off next, and then his jumpsuit, the few wounds on his legs getting the same treatment as his arms.

It's only after, when his wounds are dressed and the dust and blood has been wiped clean, that Zexion picks him up, carrying him over to their double bed and tucking him in.]
