Meaning that either the route would need to be planned, you would need to anticipate where he would land, or the boxes would need to manipulate the environment in some way he could detect, such as by creating a section of the clearing free of waves, or erasing a portion of steam generated by Boomer's fireballs coming into contact with the marsh.

Ideally, one would use a combination of the first and last; a planned route with the ability to provide contingencies.
