Who: One irate Hydra, other Hydraculans, and the curious and/or brave
Where: The riverside just south of the cove
When: Day 227, noonish
What: CLEANING ALL THE SHEETS

[Most times there's a large pot suspended over a cooking fire, there's inevitably an accompanying aroma of fresh soup or stew, or a slow-cooked pot roast.

Today, at best, there's the odour of stale sweat being surpressed beneath the omnipresent hint of soap as sheet after sheet is sterilized between washings in the river.]

Confining oneself to your quarters for days on end is understandable given the circumstances, but to have lain upon the same linens through several stages of a clearly contagious illness, and then to further use the same bedsheets without so much even a thought to washing them boarders on a reprehensible lack of cleanliness. The only wonder is, perhaps, that the whole of our units were not subjected to the same periods of fever and delirium.

It's fine as long as he doesn't try anything. We're not on our territory exactly . . .

He's not the type for physical stuff, I think.

I've been watching him.

He yelled at a Pyxis for carrying a weapon, and he was one of the guys trying to talk down that crazy Ursa chick when she flipped out. I don't trust him as far as I could throw him, but...

He knows Hydracula doesn't like his team, and he probably knows you're Hydra's leader.

Everyone knows I'm Hydra's leader, but I still haven't gone near a single one of them since the game. And his team was the one making threats! His team's the one everyone should be worrying about! Not mine!

Hey, hey! I'm not arguing with you. That's why I said if you want him gone, I'll make sure he goes.

And I said it's fine if he doesn't try anything. I don't want his psychotic teammate to have another reason to come after us.

Oi.

... and really, I can work on that whole bit with Drift threatening you lot, if you want. I doubt it'll do much good but I don't really agree with the whole mess, personally.

She's prone to violence when angered and this was just after a game where she had to witness two of her teammates lose limbs and die in front of her eyes. To be fair, her threat seems about on par for someone coming out of that situation.

That's not excusing it, though. I'll talk with her and the team about it. It's really senseless to keep this kind of thing going after it's all done and over with.

To be fucking fair we got told to our goddamn faces that every other team had teamed up to fucking slaughter us. And then you shitty fucks got pissed off when we refused to die quietly.

None of you gave two shits about our situation, so I don't give a single scrap of one about yours.

No one was upset that you fought back. That's an understandable reaction. It was more of the way you went about it that left a bad taste in people's mouths. And really, I agree that it wasn't the best of moves to have told you about what was going on behind the scenes because it only made things worse.

But if you can tell me at all that you would not have done the same thing in a game of that nature--that you haven't done it before, then I'm willing to listen to what you think we should have done instead, being on a new team myself and having two people on Cetus that two people on my team care about.

You don't fucking TELL PEOPLE! You don't tell them and make them wait all night knowing four fucking teams are just waiting to kill—to EAT THEM! WHAT KIND OF SICK PSYCHOTIC ASSHOLE DOES THAT?!

I don't fucking care—we were gonna team up too! But fuck! What the hell did you idiots expect to happen?! Smiles and understanding?! This is my goddamn family—our family! And you all expected us to just be okay knowing our family was going to be eaten alive! FUCK YOU!

[hands going up in placating manner]

All right. All right!

First of all, I agree that that was an enormous mistake on our part. It was well-intentioned but a mistake. Secondly, if you could be so kind as to stop generalizing? There was a lot of anger and a lot of fear and a lot of bad decisions all around--but that does not mean everyone had it out for you and it doesn't mean that everyone was okay with it. You want to know what's worse? Cetus really didn't want to have to go along with the whole game. I had to talk them into the whole thing in the first place. So no, we weren't expecting you to be okay with it, so if you don't mind: CUT THE SHOUTING.

... finally, your teams were not the only ones who had to sit through a night knowing that they'd be killed. Why do you think we were so wary when we walked to the arena? We knew what we'd done wrong, we knew the consequences--Ursa, at the very least, knew we would die.

So yes, I know how it feels. And I don't expect you to be okay with it. And I will talk with my teammates about the whole threats situation.

And I'm sorry, I really am very sorry that things happened this way between our teams. But I, personally, am not holding anything against you--well, except I may be a bit paranoid around that one girl on Vulpecula, but she did sort of eat my arm, if I recall...
