Who: Marisa, anyone
Where: Arena
When: Day 200, afternoon
What: A sharp whistle may draw you to the Arena today, where a purple-haired midboss is sitting over several boxes of supplies, sharpening a sword. She looks up to greet you with a terse nod.

"I want you to see what you can create a weapon out of. Best ones get rewarded."

((Activity: MAKE THE PRETTIEST SHANK OF ALL. Carve a pink shank with sparkles out of a toothbrush? Okay. Classic sharpened piece of wood? Sure. Be creative!))

[not sure where he's going with that]

[Sets aside the glass and the lead pipe and gets up to look through another box, pulling out pieces of wood and testing to see if any of them are soft with his fingernail.]

[more wood?]

[When he finds one that suits him, he sits down with it, bracing it between his feet. From his own belt, he takes a thin, grooved knife and begins to carve away an indent in the wood that goes all the way around it.]

[He is clumsy with carving, and the indent is jagged and not particularly pretty, but this is getting done- and fairly quickly, since the wood is soft.]

[It is ugly but serviceable. He's not particularly doing a great job, but it's making the vague shape he wants it to. :|b]

[When he's finished, he finds another piece of soft wood and does the same again.]

How many of those do you plan to make?

Just two.

[Works awhile longer before finishing up the second, then puts the knife away, scoops up both wood pieces, with some difficulty, and brings them back to the place with the lead pipe and the glass.]

[Sits himself down again and braces the first wood piece between his feet, helping himself to a smooth rock nearby. Carefully, he selects one of the sharpest pieces of glass and sets it against the wood, then applies, gentle, steady pressure.]

[With any luck, the wood is soft enough that the glass will go in before it breaks. If it doesn't, let's see if that box has sharp pieces of metal or obsidian. :|a]

[the glass appears to be workable]

[In that case, he'll be covering the piece of wood with the glass, so that the sharp ends stick out. When he's finished, it would probably hurt like hell if you tried to grab it by anywhere but the notch he's carved, which he's left empty.]

[When he's finished, he moves to the other piece and does the same.]

[When both of them are finished, he sets them carefully aside and retrieves the lead pipe.]

[He runs the other end of the wire around the notch carved in the middle of the wood, then wraps it and twists it into place to hold it. When he's done with one, he does the same with the other on the other side of the pipe, resulting in something like this.]

[Which was totally why he picked supplies that are hard to get, like metal and wire, for the base. :Db]

I plan to.
