Who: Everyone
Where: In the Sacred City
When: King’s Year 199, Mid Winter
What:

[It had been a slow start through the fall. Nations full of people needing to settle and find shelter. And many despaired... how could such an enormous project be completed by the end of a mere two seasons when most were still milling about supplies and accommodations?

But as they do, gears shifted as the temperatures rose... as night became a nostalgic memory... Natural ingenuity blended with mad genius with simple practicality and by early winter, the great keystone... a project of masonry that had taken nearly as much time as the construction of the great stone walls themselves was complete and secured into place for the rest of the walls to be completed around it.

Construction had slowed ... even with ants to carve and carry, even with machinery of steam and clockwork and nearly a quarter of the world in labor.... the hours that COULD be worked became less and less... and working became less of a normal function and one of devotion, heroism and madness.

But today.... the last blocks had been placed, the keystone was in place and ready... Since last night the world has been thrown into blessed darkness. The air is uncomfortably warm, but no longer scalds to breathe, and the light comes from torches and magic.

Today, many people have gathered below the keystone, eyes turned upward.

Today, the supports are removed.]

Of course.

[and... staring as you guys unearth that symbol, and what happens. Still for a very long moment, then in a hushed voice]

The Gods... they're...

[GOIN OFF TO SEARCH SOME RUBBLE]

[It is a hell of a lot of work, given your injuries, but eventually, as you move two larger pieces away, you feel a cool temperature across your fingers and a harsh red light breaks through.]

[fjklgh gosh could that be one I wonder!! Shoving the rubble aside, using his feet to help when his arm is not enough.]

[You are greeted by a what appears to be a pair of sheers and a scalpel left in the rubble... they glow with a power you feel ... quite familiar having felt the touch of before.]

. . .

Ah. . .

[moves to grip his forearm, His symbol automatically-- but that's impossible without his other arm.

Then he reaches shakily for the sheers and scalpel, picking them up from the rubble.]

[They are cool to the touch, the feeling of it radiating up your arm.]

[Almost unable to breathe, his heart hammering in his chest.]

It is you. . . isn't it?

O God... Corpus.

[As you touch the symbol and invoke the Surgeon, He of the Body, He of Intelligent Learning, He who Cuts, the symbol becomes cold in your hands. You brush for a moment, a presence unimaginably larger than your own. For a moment, just a moment, you think you can see the truth of everything, in its unimaginable complexities. Your head throbs, your vision swims and you feel like clawing at your face to get at it and let SOME of it out.

And then its gone.]

[As the symbol of the Surgeon is touched, in a wave, you feel the ailments of all around you soothing, knitting, healing.

The symbol, as the bearer reels back, is picked up by one of the giant spiders of Lepus and swallowed. The spider skitters away without any preamble at all.]

[Good and hyperventilating. He staggers back, A strange bubbling, warm, regenerating sensation crawling through him as his strength returns, and vines grow out of his body at such a rate it's like time has multiplied. They spread wide and wind together in a fully formed arm again.

It takes a second before he even registers the massive holy spider and stumbles backwards.]

[Then, heart still pounding, all the feelings rushing through him, is fast to fall into a muttered prayer of thanks.]
