Who: Any
Where: At the base of the great mountain
When: King's Year 199, early autumn
What:

[The great mountain is the largest mountain on the content known as the First Land. It is a marker that can be seen over most of the lands of Pyxis and Canis for its inspiring height. The crystal city, in all of its marvels is built into the western side of it, perhaps a fourth of the way up in a valley between it and the nearest mountain.

Its peak is obscured by the clouds, and no traveler or climber ascending to its great top has ever come back alive, leading most to simply accept that it was a dwelling place of the Gods and thus, no place for man or his ilk.

Today, at its base, a priest is pouring over detailed construction plans that seem to shift and expand under their own magic as he pens in the countries and supplies as they come in.

Great flags of black are set in an enormous circle, stretching out of sight in an enormous circle, and far into the lands that are considered Pyxis.

A great deal of shelters are set up, most tent at the moment, within the circle. Food and water getting the first stone structures erected and thus far are without guard.

A young Ophiuchus of Caduceus cut greets you as you approach, and waves you to the table that the hooded, red lined priest sits.]

His excellency has requested you report directly to him. Please hurry and send your representative.

[grumblegrumble I wanted to rest why did I agree to this this job sucks]

[G steps away from the cart he'd been walking alongside to go greet the priest, leaning on his staff as he walks. It's been a long trip after all.]

You don't even have to ask that. We can stake our claims right next to each other.

[glances back at the train of carts, wagons, and people traveling by foot that stretches off into the distance, scratching his head thoughtfully for a minute.]

Ten or twelve thousand in this group? We started off with just our capitol, teamed up with some smaller towns on the way. It's not the last of Hydra, but I can't tell you the exact number of the other groups coming.

[He seems pleased.] Not unexpected from the people of Hydra.

What have you in supplies and water?

For food we've got dried meats and fruits, and some root vegetables and what we've managed to catch or gather along the way. There's some wagons carrying casks of water for travel that couldn't take us near rivers . . . For building we've brought stone, wood, and clay. If we have to dismantle the carts and wagons then we can do that too.

[Nods]

Meat, fruits and water may be kept, for now, in whatever shelter you build.

Some rudimentary shelters are available, and a great number of tents. They have been specially treated and you will find the inside of them cool no matter the heat outside. Do not let any worker take themselves beyond exhaustion, rest, water and food are necessary.

You will be assigned to the northern block. Your designation of the wall will begin here and here. [He indicates the placement on the map.]

Materials and tools will be provided, as well as what you have brought. Work only at night, light will be provided. The Gods are not without generosity, and conscientious work will be rewarded with far more than mere survival. You may tailor your area as you see fit within your own time.

Any questions?

[Mutters a 'thank the Gods' at the explanation of the divinely cooled tents. Best ever.

He scans the map while the Oracle explains what they're to be doing, nodding once or twice before straightening up again.]

Yeah. You got any idea how long we'll have to stay here?

[Watching the meeting as well as they can from their post.

They stop, only to talk to people as they wander by, and a few quick exchanges with the Vulpecula wanderers as they see them.. but as G returns, their attention is refocused quite quickly.]

... What does he say?

He says he's either a useless messenger or he's holding out information on us.

According to him the Word of the Gods is that we'll be able to leave by the Spring, but that hinges on whatever they've got planned. Either he doesn't want to tell me what it is, or he doesn't know either.
