[Great plumes of sand have been seen rolling through the country all summer. Storms too, such that Canis has never seen. But the desert is not built to hold water for very long; instead, the waters have uncovered an enormous sinkhole in the great desert of Arakis, within which rests something very deep and dark and ancient ...

In the weeks leading up to this encounter, this enormous hole has been the epicenter of the numerous dust storms and other disturbances that have rocked the country. Even the minorly talented shamans have sensed this disturbance in the earth. However, getting to this place has been more than a little difficult. The winds buffeted anyone who came too close. Only now, as the summer approaches its apex, do the winds die down enough for shamans (and other talented folks) to approach. Lazy clouds of sand and grit obscure the mammoth shape ahead of you. And high above your heads fly a number of desert birds, their shadows making lazy circles in the sand far below.]

	something's happening to that huge block of stone. white light flashes behind it, once, twice. then the block jerks forward, sliding ponderously off the ledge and into the quicksand below. behind it, Jace is standing; he's picked up a new cut or two and there's ash and grub fluids staining his clothes, but he doesn't seem like he's been too badly hurt. *clinging to the arm for dear life, but at the climax of his spell, he raises one arm high, up to the rim of the hole.

Above, the howling sandstorm changes pitch, ever so slightly, A tendril of it seems to break from the opaque wall, winding its way downward in a narrowing spiral, growing thicker as it goes. As it reaches the level of the colossus's head, it strikes like an uncoiling snake from the direction Tjuta is prying, enveloping the stone oval in wind and flaying sand. somehow, the winds avoid Tjuta's body, focusing their full fury on the enormous statue.*

	[the sand hits the side of the colossus' head like a sledgehammer. it rocks slowly on its axis, but with Tjuta's sword in the way it can't settle back into place properly. it falls with deceptive slowness while its body, now headless and armless, rocks backwards and collapses.] (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	[slowly but surely, the winds surrounding the top of the sinkhole begin to slow. the sand still obscures the Old Woman for the moment, however -- not a bad thing, considering her extreme heat. black liquid oozes from the fallen guardian, hissing and bubbling as it flows towards the center of the hole.] (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
