Ticky had slept, somewhat fitfully, in River's bed alone as promised. Also with a knife in his hand, as promised. And when River woke up Ticky was fully awake, but assured he had slept plenty. And after breakfast (full of more stares and whispered conversation) followed River to the deck to get his promised proof of River being Ophiuchus.]

[runs over to CHAT UP THE AWAITING CAPTAIN who, if he is dubious about River picking up a stray, only raises an eyebrow in Ticky's direction and spends a sentence or two on the subject -- River shakes his head and laughs a little for whatever he said -- and then the Captain spreads a map out for him, pointing a path for him. River peers over it, v interested]

[A few things happen relatively quickly. The Captain shouts orders to those above, and the ship's sails are collapsed and secured, some strips of water, like living safety bungees, wrap around the Captain's waist and feet and secure in four positions while he takes the wheel. And River gestures to Ticky and then throws a bungee around Ticky's waist attached to the center mast - it gives him enough room to reach the railing, but not enough to fall off. It secures quite snug, but not tight. If you touch it, it is wet.

Oh, and the crew that were remaining on deck go inside.]

[Content nobody is going to get chucked overboard, Water bursts from River's body in two directions, crashing over the sides of the ship and coating the entire hull. And once the water just beneath the ship is effectively brought under his control, the waves in front of the boat cut through as if something had already broken them...

And River triiies not to lurch the boat, he'd done pretty well before, but he's still new at this! So the boat lurches once it starts, and the captain steers with all his might as the ship turns hard to port.]

[River laughs. The water below the boat is moving like an isolated rushing current, and once the right direction is achieved, the boat speeds right the hell up, cutting through the sea on that current until it's going at speedboat pace. It's not dangerous, really, and with the shimmering protection over the hull the boat is cut out for it, but for those not used to thumping along over waves it's a shocker.

River takes off to the head of the boat, and as he passes Slick he shouts with a wild grin:]

Look up ahead!

[It's okay, I'm not gonna wait for a dramatic last-minute. That isn't practical.

The boat is lifting up gradually, lifted by the rushing water beneath it. River's hands are outstretched and surging, and he throws them both forward, creating something of a massive, rushing bridge. And the boat follows it, upwards, until it's up a good height above sea level, the rocks moving harmlessly beneath them.]
