[once they are OUTTA THE PIT OF FIRE, running into sweet, cold-by-comparison, breathable air and of startled people, exclaiming at the sight of the two young men having run back out alive with children in hand.

River turns to G, shouting over other firefighting Cepheans who want to do their medic thing, though they seem to hesitate when they realize they're shouting at a priest. WHAT DO?? Meanwhile he is already gently transferring Red to G]

I need you to take the boys and get a solid roof over your head, and care for them there! Nearby is fine, this fire has spread far enough!

Sorry, but you'll have to take care of me for a day or two after this!

There's not a lot of time. If this fire gets any bigger -- but it won't, not if he's here. He's never done something this big. But he can. He can.

Shouts a to a few baffled Cepheans trying to fight the fireline, they shout back-- just how big is the fire-- and he jumps forward, a shimmering reflective light lashing around his body until a torrent of water pushes forward, and the noise of the wave isn't loud enough to muffle the surprised shrieks. It soaks every structure immediately in front of him. Whatever structure left standing after that, he runs to parkour his way to the top.

That'll give him some time...]

[and now I have to stand here and charge while fire is happening all over.]

From your vantage point the flames stretch for blocks around, eating through most of the old factories and warehouses that once sat derelict in this part of the city... and already the fire begins to reach beyond that, burning debris wafting on the winds and lighting on--- you recognize those aged terraces to the distant east, they're where the slums begin, where some of the poorest of the city's people reside-- ]

[ below, the civilians are either fleeing the danger or staying to give what help they can; few pause to look at the strange light above their heads. Two fire engines are already present, their harnessed orvis shifting uneasily in the blistering heat as the firefighters try to push the fire line back, the steam-propelled jets of water from their hoses making progress, if slow. ]

[The fire wind picks up, slow at first and then forceful, and for a moment that's disastrous, picking up the flames--

Then there's a rumble and deafening series of cracks as the entire sky flashes brilliant white, thunder rolling and rolling. The air changes, and it begins to sprinkle. And then it begins to rain... And as everyone shouts in excitement, a storm begins to rage, pouring upon the blistering heat of the great fire.]
