[There really isn't any sudden signal like a shout or even the sound of someone approaching. Just, a sudden volley of throwing knives embedding themselves quite firmly in the nearest of the badgercrocs. It doesn't seem like it should be enough to kill them, but the way they're spasming and seizing up certainly says otherwise. :|a

The thrower of the knives steps into view then, yanking the knives out while the crocs at the rear are still trying to scramble over the soon-to-be corpses. He makes sure to open up some good, bloody slices which draws their attention away from the noisy bleeding thing in the tree long enough for G to reach in to snatch him out of there]

[keeping a pretty firm grip on himself, RUNNING until the sounds of badgercrocs have dwindled into nothing.

Getting to a village from here would take time the kid might not have, so he just stops at the next patch of dry ground. Jams his staff into the soft ground and shifts Allen in his arms while he shrugs out of his coat and tosses it on the ground, then sets him down on top of it]

You. What's your name? Where'd you come from? [as he speaks he hits something on the staff—and over a dozen little compartments suddenly pop open to display vials, thread, needles . . .] Is this bite all you've got?

[blinking wide at him. His clothes are green, he could be local-- but now that he's spread out, those vines aren't wrapped around him, they are coming from him.

He opens his mouth, but suddenly he can't make noise, even though he's trying. His eyes are dialated, and where he isn't covered in mud, dark, black splotches are beginning to appear on semi-translucent, clammy skin.

Apparently no, that bite isn't all he's got.]

Shit—

[rips a section off the bottom of the coat to tie a quick slapdash bandage over the bite to keep him from losing too much blood, swiping at the mud on his leg to double check the blotches he's seeing.

Curses under his breath again and grabs a vial and selection of needles from the staff, rushing to get them all tipped with whatever he's storing in that vial.

It's too bad there isn't any time to anesthetize you since these needles are getting jabbed all over, starting around his neck and chest to save his brain and heart first and working out from there]

[Allen is helpfully frozen, crying without making a sound. The only helpful thing when it comes to treating a poison that could reduce the boy and the ground beneath him to blackened chunks and bone.

As each of those needles hit their mark, they paralyze the spread, and normal skin spreads out from the needle tips inside each blotch. The ones not treated yet fast become welts and split, and the black oozing liquid within quickly oxidizes into a wet, congealed grain that begins to sizzle.]

[Oh fuck this. Rips the stopper off the vial he'd been using and pulls a knife from one of the pockets in his pants. This sure is going to suck balls. 8|;

With the knife he starts scraping the sizzling grain from the wounds, cleaning as much as he can from each within a second or two. It's not neat and certainly not painless, but better than a horrible sizzling burny loss of limb. 8| Follows up each quick scraping with a few drops of antidote poured directly into the wound.]

	[The grain burns holes in the ground it's deposited at, but as for the wounds, with a loud sizzle pop like water hitting oil, at each hit of antidote the black immediately goes clear. [pock-marked with open (but clean!) deep sores, they'll leave some nasty scars and he'll be out of commission for a while while his muscles recover, but he'll live and even keep all his limbs in working order. The vines seem fine. His color is returning. He sobs and makes some stronger noise for good measure.
