Who: Ophiuchus
Where: Deep under the Arena
When: Day 193, early morning
What: Reassignments

[Last night, Ophiuchus felt more keenly than any other area the rumblings and ravages of the earthquake. However, before the rumble even became a roar, the stones mended themselves, drawers righted... and the snake hissed its agitation and displeasure.

It would say nothing of the events... Only that he would speak to the King in the morning. As the torches start gathering light, the Guardian begins the evening with a fainter rumble than the night previous, and those Ophiuchus waking up, will find those changes again. Uraeus has once again reclaimed the top, while Uroboros is just a little behind. Caduceus...]

... Caduceus... Keepersss of the wessst.

[It is a summons, rather than a statement.]

[In a choice of burnt hand vs giant snake, giant snake is the clear terrifying champion.]

[Sticking his hand in that flame—and double-taking at the lack of heat. Is that really normal 8|a]

I shall serve the Judges faithfully.

[The flames washing your hand is cool, and through them you feel a faint tingle of lightning. Suddenly, you know, with absolute certainty that your words have been accepted.

Your uniform changes even as it hangs on you. It becomes a little more streamlined, a little more suit-like. The buttons are now an elegant silver, trim and threading the same. A silver cord of rank hangs at your shoulder, rather than across the front.]

Blank. Ssso named here, Thorn. You will rejoin the group known as Caduceus, keepers of the west.

It isss your job to to sssserve each of the Judgesss and do their will and ssssee to their whimssss, as diverssse as they may be. You will punissssh the Blanksss for lawlessssnesss, and reward them for their work in honor of the Judgessss.

You will find weaponsss, food and clothesss as you need them. Your work I judge as your whole unit, and assss you pleasssse the Judgessss you pleassse me.

You will not wissssh to ssssuffer my disssspleasure.

Your unit isss the lowessst rank... Ssssee to it that you do not contribute to thisss dangerousss ssssituation.

[Spares a quick glance at his changing clothes, straightening up as the snake speaks and finally grinning, full of confidence and determined self-assurance.]

Contribute? Hah! I'll whip those lazy pieces of trash into shape.

Bet you want a shower too. Upstairs, but first, check this out.

[It looks like a part of a mural.

Glowing with a soft silverish hue, the mural’s tiles seem to be impossibly incandescent on their own. The mural depicts two giant snakes, coiling around and up a giant staff. The staff seems to be a bridge between the pastoral, earthy scene, and the heavens above.

You kinda wanna poke it 8|a]

[The moment you touch the cool, slick tiles you feel a sense of vertigo as your mind slips into a dreamlike state. Images and knowledge rush past you, leaving behind flashes, impressions and lingering convictions.

In the rush you make out: The soft sound of breeze, and on it, the regal cadence of a marching song. Your sub unit was once the messengers, the living connections between the people and the gods themselves. You valued your connections, as they were important to your work as well as to yourself.

You return to yourself with an odd, instilled feeling of pride and resolution.]

Interesting, yeah? I remember a whole other life, but knowing that's the history of Caduceus, I can't help but be proud of it.

Well, I meant "we" like "our whole team." Sorry we're last, four of us just got in trouble. Me and Slick are working on it, but... I hope the others will pick up, I nudged 'em last time.
