Hi . . . Allen.

[wincing a little, trying to shift]

. . . there's meatbuns in the kitchen . . . I made this morning . . . heh.

Hi. I could use them. And that's fine, Miss.

[most of what Allen's got has been pre-prepped, wrapped in softened or woven greens and fibers, though he also puts a rock and a bigger rock aside and some fresh miscellany greens. The first thing he does is wrap his fingers in what looks like an old, cleaned lacerta rag, dip it in a paste, and place his fingers against Royal's wound, around the open skin.

The sting and pain is quickly numbing -- still there, but certainly relieved.]

Mm . . . could use . . .?

[just kind of echoing him, a little dazed and perhaps starting to edge towards feverish]

. . . hsssss.

[frowning, puts the back of his hand on Royal's forehead for a moment, then touches his finger against pulse, counting while he's conscious. Now that he's numb, he's checking to make sure there aren't any complications. After a moment, considering the wound isn't lethal... his voice is calm and slow so Lulu can focus on it]

I'm going to put you under in a moment. You've taken some damage other than the stab wound, haven't you? Does someone else know?

[nrrrgh]

Got it.

[puts two berries in his fingers and crushes them, urges Royal to open his mouth, and puts the sopped berries directly under Royal's tongue]

Hold them there a bit and then swallow.

[has been watching v. closely] Crushing the berries makes them work faster?

That was just to make it easier to absorb. Dissolving anything under the tongue is the fastest way into the body, faster than the stomach.

I suppose it's too much to ask you to explain the rest of it.

[yeah, just watching the process probably doesn't get you much, other than that he's mixing a few things, and he's treating what he's wrapping the wound with. Caarefully, gently working on him while he speaks]

I would have ten days ago, but I have to be cautious about what is free now. A great deal of this is from... a long and complicated memory of this place. It would take some time.

I wish the memory I have from this place was that useful. I don't have anything to trade for myself, and I don't think it's fair to ask Royal since we trade his food enough as is. I suppose I'll just have to see how much I remember for myself.

Food is most definitely my preferred currency. I constantly need it. If you ever need help like this again, for severe things like this-- [there is a pause] or any sicknesses, please let me know if any of you fall ill, there are diseases native to this place-- I will always take food, even if it's just what anyone can hunt or gather.

What was your memory of, may I ask?

Thanks... One of us was injured last night but I think he should be fine by himself. If we need help I'll keep your team in mind.

I remembered being a boy, walking down a country lane in armour to try and impress two of the local girls. They were teasing me and telling me it was officer training. I also remember these clothes and what they're made of.

[blink]

A boy... officer training?...

Me too-- about the clothes. And then all this information on diseases here, though I was never a doctor in the past like you. ...Please tell me if he shows any lasting signs of fever or infection.

Thanks, I will.

The only way I had of knowing it wasn't one of my actual memories is that I was a boy. Well, and the clothes. I don't know what kind of officer I was going to be but I remembered that the girls said they were going to marry on oneday, and that what I was doing wasn't really training.

I see. Mm. There was a lot I "understood" because of what I was thinking at the time... well. What "he" was thinking.

[looks like he's finishing up. tying off a coarsely braided, but supple and useable, tie, around his shoulder, to keep the also-organic (but treated to be softer) patch on his front and back secure.]

You need to clean the bandage morning and night, and he'll need to test his shoulder - not too roughly - for how much he can move it. If it becomes any stiffer, or his flesh changes to purple too far from the wound, come get me to check it again.

The next time you guys utterly ruin an outfit, keep the scraps New clothes can be earned from Ophiuchus - you'll find you need the cloth for things like this. So can bandages proper, for that matter, but it's more economical the other way at least.

[holds up a pile of very rough cloth strips] Yeah, we worked out that much. We had to cut his shirt off to get to the wound.

Mm. I think what I've used will be better than those, but see if you can get them to loosen up.

I will. Thanks for your help, and please give my thanks for the lady who helped Royal when it first happened. We might have lost him if not for you.
