Who: ANYONE
Where: Along one of those high ridges around the Lacanis dorms.
When: Day 149, morning
What: Experimenting.

[And there's a tiny standing on one of those high altitude ridges, right at the edge, looking down. Though...something might be odd.

That's certainly Lacerta's green. But the maid outfit has the colors switched for their usual tiny. Not to mention the white hair. Or green eyes. Skin is kind of darker or maybe that's just the slight glow around her making her look darker? And what's that little logo on the apron? Weird.

Of course, that might not be a concern as she JUMPS OFF THE RIDGE. And no, that is NOT a safe falling height.]

*shakes his head*

I think most of us have remembered what we're going to, except maybe Flames. But one heart attack's enough.

*nod* More than enough.

Your teams here have some really interesting abilities, don't they? It's really cool...

It makes some things much easier. Not to mention a few that are just fun.

Yeah, I can imagine...

Fun, huh? Besides the illusion ones?

There's always flight.

Yeah, that did look like a lot of fun... other than the panicked cliff-diving saving your teammate part, anyway.

I could do without that. I need more practice, though; the bracer limits my endurance when I'm flying, so I haven't used it as much as I once did.

Oh, I didn't know they limited things... I thought they just kept things out of your head. No one's really told me anything about them besides what you did.

They reduce your capabilities if they're superhuman. Zack and Cloud used to be able to practically put their fists through a stone wall; now they can barely crack it. For me, they limit the power of some effects and the amount of mana I can draw at a time.

...I guess I can see where that has a benefit to evening things out for the people who don't have those abilities. But I can imagine that it sucks for you to be held back so much.

I guess there's not much of a choice...

What happens if you take it off?

...they didn't tell you? You lose all of your memories until you put it back on, and you can't form new ones; no long-term recall. You have all of your innate abilities at full strength, so it's a decent last-ditch option for physical fighters, but...

*shakes his head* All I knew was to not take it off... That's not good. Even for people who don't need memories to use their abilities, they probably wouldn't know what they were doing...

That's the problem. It's a limitation placed on us by the Judges, after a powerful mage tried to rebel against them.

*nods*

He attacked Trickster on his throne during a game. Used some pretty potent spells. For a moment, we all thought it had worked, but then something released the demon bound in his body that was powering his magic. We managed to bring it down together, and then King instated the limiters.

Mm... I guess I can see why he'd do something like that, but that still sucks.

I guess without the bracers, no one had the wards in place, either...

It's all tied to the bracers.

I've noticed it's different for you when you're around people who have them down... That must have been hard, too.

*smiles a little* You noticed that? Most people don't.

...it's like seeing people with blank skin where their faces should be, or hearing everyone speak in the same monotone. I don't look without permission, but I can see the shape of their minds, and get little pieces of what they're feeling, if the bracers are down. With them up...it's a wall, and everyone's the same.

*nods* It's not by much but I could see you relax a bit after I lowered mine the first time. It's why I've kept doing it around you, it seemed like something you appreciated.

*pauses for a moment and cringes a bit, imagining faceless people* Ugh, that sounds awful...

Believe me, it's definitely appreciated.

Yeah, I'm sure... I don't think I could relate to someone without a face, I'll keep mine down when I'm around here.

I'm guessing your teammates do the same thing, then?

Thanks, Ed.

Unless they're feeling something strong and don't want me to worry. It's useful in a lot of ways, actually; I can speak to them telepathically this way, and reach them even if they're not in the vicinity.
