When: Day 77, afternoon
What: New Blank, wandering around

[one enormously tall and desperately skinny Blank with long pretty hair, in Canis colors, expression vacillating between wary, confused, and cranky, and his memory tube clutched in his hand, is wandering around the area outside the Canis dorms. definitely someone who warrants poking.]

Pretty often. We're a strong team. The Games are all different; they range from light-hearted to lethal. The Judges each run them their own way; I'll fill you in on the ones we know about.

I'm listening.

There are somewhere between ten and twenty of them, but the most dangerous ones are Trickster and Surgeon. Trickster's a sadist; his games almost always end up with bodies on the ground. He revives us afterward, but it's not a pleasant experience. He likes it when teams turn against each other, and he'll kill people if he doesn't get his way. Most teams ignore anything that happens in Trickster's games, and just try to survive.

Surgeon's less openly sadistic, but he's still a bastard. If you lose one of his games, he takes a member of your team and experiments on them. It's not pleasant.

Sounds like fun. Any good news in all this?

Fun's a word. Other Judges mostly won't do much damage; watch King, though, he's a snake. Be careful of Mirror -- she tries to be nice when she can, but she doesn't understand how sometimes. We have a pretty decent relationship with her, when she remembers. Messenger will visit sometimes, and he's a decent sort.

*shrugs* It's mostly bad. I haven't even told you about the food situation yet, though we do pretty well with that, to be honest.

Great.

[looks over the people around]

Nobody looks starving. Except the kid in yellow. And me.

That's Chaz. He always looks like that. There's fish around; we'll have to cook it, though. We hunt or gather every day; we get rations, but they're not enough to live on, and we've got scavengers that hit us whenever we try to store food for too long.

Whenever we have food and you're hungry, pretty much. I can put something together now, if you want.

[blinks at it. somehow this is odd, no idea why. watching the food prep, to see if anything seems familiar]

Chaz said some shit went down yesterday.

*passes a hand over the fish, and the ice dissolves into blue light. Jace starts cleaning it. also, winces a little; is this emotion?*

...he's right. Sorry; I'm not exactly at my best right now.

[well something looked weird all over that. not. that i am aware other people don't see very faint funny shapes superimposed over everything when they stare]

Not my business. I'm fine.

...uh-huh.

*continues cleaning while he talks, hands almost on autopilot*

...teams are pretty small. Four, five at most. I've never seen one with six.

One of the Judges took one of us yesterday. Nico. He said he'd bring him back eventually, but if they're filling his place on the team...

Yeah, didn't think anyone was blaming me.

Don't think I'm gonna be anybody's little brother, either. Hope no one's waiting for that.

*l-laughs. it's rough and sounds a little shell-shocked, but it's there*

You're a little tall for that. And I'm not bloody well interested in replacing him. You make your own terms, here.

Weird way of looking out for someone. But long as you don't think it's happening, we're fine. I'll make my own way.

The bracer? It does a few things. The most important is that it keeps your memory in place. It's bound into your long-term memory, and if it comes off, you forget everything. It also blocks telepathy.
