Claiming Saturday the 24th, 8pm EST (7pm mingle) for a Persona game! THIS IS BOXY BY THE WAY (Allen/Cloud/Yama) so all questions to me and not Excel :|b
This is a ~Shadow~ game. For those of you who have played Persona 4, you know exactly what I'm talking about. For those of you that haven't, here's an explanation!
Basically, your "shadow-you" is everything that you repress, suppress, or don't want to admit about yourself. It is your Id. All those feelings you decide are undesirable that you don't voice or act on? Your shadow says it loud and clear, waaay exaggerated. And she'd LOVE to say it, because she really can't stand being ignored. Your Shadow is basically like your Id, if your Id was also on crack, and hated you.
Keep in mind, these things are meant to be brutal! A good rule of thumb is, would your character completely reject this thing as telling the truth about their negative feelings on the first pass? Would they shout, "HOLY SHIT, YOU AREN'T ME!" even if it rings true? Make it that bad- but keep in mind, it has to be true, a real part of your character (but being such an asshole about it doesn't). If you need help, I'm sure any persona 4 fan can help you because it's not like we spend our time imagining what kind of Shadow/Persona our characters would have or anything 8(
Examples! These are all pretty normal kids, and here's their shadows:
A spunky, upbeat boy from the city who just lost his crush and wants to bring the killer to light
A spunky, fun tomboy girl who always looks out for her best friend
A modest, proper, responsible girl who's famously going to inherit her family's inn
A tough, badass, scary thug who beats up motorcycle gangs single-handedly
A TV celebrity with a chipper, airheaded TV-personality, who's quite quiet and nice on break
You get the idea! All of these kids are very good people, and yet, well, there you go. (Also lol teenagers and sexy times.) Did you notice how ~~symbolic~~ their heart-dungeons and boss-monsters were? MAAAGICAL SYMBOLISM IS A+.
SO. For this game! I need fourteen volunteers, one from each team, to be the ~stars~. If there isn't someone from each team, don't worry, you'll be paired up with another group. If the two SUPER NEW teams don't think they have enough "Id" feelings built up yet, I will assign them to help out different teams. (This will also happen if there isn't one volunteer from each team, or enough people. We'll need two people per team to show up!)
Your job, should you volunteer, is to have a Shadow Confrontation (basically, troll yourself in front of your friends; feel free to plan the monologue in advance) and then run a boss battle. Also, think up a fitting "lobby" for your shadow; we're not exploring your heart at all, we're just going to a door inside it.
