Hackers Unite!
Who: Rusty and Mazie
When: Early
Where: Rusty's room
Mazie hadn’t slept. There was way too much to do. Too much to crack. She was wired, half a pot of coffee still coursing through her system when the breakthrough happened. Her eyes, too open, too alert, went even wider and the grin that spread on her face was just sort of maniacal. She snatched her laptop off the desk and started on a sock-footed sprint out of her room.
She made it to Rusty’s room without any real knowledge of the time, no real concern about waking him since neither of them were really going to be sleeping. They’d been over that already and the mutual understanding had been there, so she banged on his door and bounced from side to side on her feet, waiting anxiously. “Rus!!”
It was possible Rusty was wired. Like, he'd had a little too much caffeine, and by 'too much' the real answer was closer to 'possible impending heart asplosion' levels as opposed to just 'jittery'. But it came off as jittery, when he lept up from his desk, practically flew across the room to grab the door. He scrabbled at the knob, it seeming to leap around as opposed to staying still like it was meant to. When he finally got the damn thing open, he saw it was Mazie, and immediately latched onto her.
Which entailed grabbing her by the arms and hugging her, then yanking her into his room. "You'vegottoseethisI'vebeenworkingallnig
Mazie was there with him, though, experiencing the same level of ridiculously-caffeinated that he was. She understood exactly what he said as he said it and it had her grinning even more, beaming wide with the knowledge. “Show me! Show me! I’ve gotta show you stuff too but you show me yours first!” She insisted, barely managing to put her computer down softly before she was going for the chair in Rusty’s room to drag it across the floor and over to his desk.
"Ithinkweneedtostarthere!" he rambled, sitting down and pointing to his screen in three different places. He made himself slow down. "And be we I mean mostly you guys because this is beyond me but I think that thisisit!!" He beamed. "What do you have to show me!!?"
Mazie beamed another grin as she leaned in closer and took a look at his screen. He'd taken a totally different approach than she had and it had her thrilled at so many possibilities. "Rusty, you're a genius! This will definitely work." Her good mood translated into her words as she spoke next. "I..have this," She said, standing up to grab her laptop again and bring it back. On it was a screencap, amid all the code still up. A screencap of what appeared to be a video feed covering the hallway between rooms 40 and 43.
"Sweet!" Rusty cried, overjoyed. "You wanna stay here, like all day until we crack this?" he asked. "We can invite Jim when he's done with shit, and it'll be great! Here, have some caffeine!" he added, going to get her a soda.
“Yes, yes, and yes!” Mazie said, nodding as she settled her laptop on the corner of his desk then took his soda. Cracking it open, she grinned and nudged him with her shoulder. “We are so kickass! Let’s get to work,” She said, taking a long chug of her soda before settling in for the long haul.
