Harry Potter didn't invent fame. Celebrity has always been a hot commodity in the wizarding world and this elite class -- from Quidditch players to stage actors, from radio hosts to musicians -- are living the good life. A premiere here. A club opening there. A scandal in the papers everywhere. You may have wanted this life, you may have been born into it, or it may have been an accident you wish you could take back, but the fact remains that your name is the name on everybody’s lips. And if it’s not yet, then it’s going to be.

Sensationalists is a next gen post-warts Harry Potter game for every witch or wizard who has ever wanted to make it in the entertainment industry – those that might, those that have, those that haven’t, and those that manage them.

WANTED: Quidditch players, WWN radio show hosts, ACTORS, PR representatives, managers, journalists, and many more!

[info]subjucation is an AU X-Men school-based RPG set at the Kelly Academy for Mutant Education located on the outskirts of Denver, Colorado. While for the time being most mutants have come here with the permission of their parents, once one enters the school students lose most of their freedom. Leaving the school is subject to tight control, the use of their mutant powers to even stricter ones. The headmaster of the school, Sebastian Shaw, has virtually absolute power over the lives of his charges- with the threat of the Vault lingering over students' heads, few dare challenge his rule.

For all that, the Kelly Academy still constitutes a sanctuary of sorts. Within the walls of the school mutants are kept safe from those who would harm them. Protests by local residents are still frequent, but for now, there seems to be an iron stability. It's also impossible to deny the excellent standards of education, both in study and in training with abilities. But is sanctuary and education worth the loss of freedom?

[info]subjucation is a brand new RP set to start on April 1st. We accept both canon and original characters. So far we have a friendly group of player and mods ready and waiting to go. All we need now is you!

DEPARTMENT OF MAGIC
NEW YORK CITY, NY. 1959|

In 1959, the state and security of the nation has never been of more importance. Foreign dangers threaten to wash up on American shores from all sides. Wizards and witches of the United States of America find safety and security in the promises of the American Department of Magic, centered in New York City. Here, the nation's bravest wizards and witches join the ranks of an elite unit - the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. The DMLE has the trust of the country, to protect and serve from anything that threatens the wizarding way of life, as well as protect those wishing to harm or compromise the safety of their muggle countrymen.

But with the changing decade come changing issues, raised stakes, and problems brewing not only overseas, but from within the very country the DMLE has lived and died to fight for. The stakes have never been higher, as the dangers stack up from internal and external forces. Will the DMLE continue to hold the weight of the country nobly and bravely on their shoulders, or will they crumble from the pressure?

Is failure an option? Not for America, and not for the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

The Department of Magic is an AU HARRY POTTER GAME, taking place in NYC in 1959, and is looking for Aurors, Hitwizards, and other DMLE personnel, as well as those working in the American Magical Library. We're a plot-heavy, driven game interested in worldbuilding and exploring a whole other side of the wizarding world and culture away from Harry Potter's home at Hogwarts.

Vampires around here don't sparkle.

A hundred years ago, supernaturals 'didn't exist'. They were figments of your imagination, things that went bump in the night and tall tales that you told your children. Not anymore.

Supernaturals were in hiding, laying dormant and blending into the background in order to protect themselves, but during WWII, the need for their abilities became so great that hiding was no longer an option. The government had long been aware of the existence of supernaturals, and when Hitler was killed or died and the accounts of the death were so unusual they couldn't be explained, people started asking questions. Keeping supernaturals under wraps became impossible and so the different races of supernaturals exploded across the lands. Just like any other minority, supernaturals weren't welcomed with open arms. Many were persecuted and some even killed for being 'different'. There was segregation and hate crimes and many churches labeled being supernatural an abomination before God. Supernaturals had to register with the government and were prosecuted if they were found without their registration cards. Many supernaturals went back into hiding.

During the sixties, however, in the height of civil rights and love, peace and harmony, being supernatural didn't seem so bad in the grand scheme of things. There were vast civil rights movements and eventually laws were passed protecting supernaturals the same as other minority groups. Still, not everyone accepted people who were 'different'. Many supernaturals migrated to areas where they were more widely accepted.

Some may have moved right next door to you.

In Washington, DC., moving into an apartment with a new roommate might mean that you're sharing a living space with a werewolf. Or maybe your son's new kindergarten teacher is an elemental. Or that girl you have a crush on in Algebra just might already know because she's a telepath. Things are still a struggle when it comes to acceptance and not everyone is happy about the path that the world is taking towards equality.

Where do you stand? Which side will you take?

Come join us at The Supernatural Next Door. We're currently seeking VAMPIRES!
