Hey there! ![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) boston_mafia is a mafia RPG based in Boston, MA (name kind of says it all). The community focuses on the war that is happening between three main families (Irish, Italian and Russian). Some are allies, some are enemies. They all have their differences and all want full control of Boston and the surrounding cities.
We welcome original characters! We're in desperate need of more law enforcement, FBI, state troopers, cops. Dirty cops are welcome, too!
We're getting close to hitting our first year of being open and we're trying out some new things to keep everyone involved. Check us out! Adds are normally done Wednesdays and Saturdays, but on occasion they're done as applications come in!
We have just set up a German family and will start accepting characters when we get four applications for that family.

Summary
Although the state of South Carolina would never officially refer to the program ran by Drs. Worthington and Richards as a “reform school”, that is exactly what it is. Founded in 2004, New Perspective focuses on reforming the delinquent individuals sent to them into more productive members of society. The staff may have a constant smile, but an estate this big has to have a few secrets, right?
The Offenders
Apparently you have little regard for the law, society’s rules, or even human life. So here you are. You’ve either been sent here by your family or shipped here by the courts in lieu of sending you straight to jail. You will be separated into two different programs: one for violent offenders and one for non-violent offenders. Chilling down South for a few months, sounds like a vacation, right? Wrong. New Perspective is a prison disguised as a positive program for young adults. You can’t leave until the Powers That Be say you can, so get used to being controlled and make the best of it.
The Staff
If you’re going to work for Connor and Koraline, it’s best that you have a clear understanding of the meaning of discretion. If you’re a long-time employee (like the Head of Security, the Chief of Staff or the Program Director), then you already know the drill:
---- Assistants/Program Directors are expected to establish positive, character building activities for the NP participants in addition to designing and heading field trips which take place every other Wednesday.
--- Psychiatrists will take turns leading group sessions once a week (on Fridays) and can refer students to either Dr. Richards or Dr. Worthington if extra therapy is needed.
--- Nurses will be in charge of assisting the doctors and keeping track of records and the medication needed for more “troubled” youth.
--- Members of the security detail work in shifts; those on the daytime shift patrol the grounds, assist staff members who are having trouble with unruly students, and at least one member will go on the field trips to keep everything under control; those on the nighttime shift patrol the grounds and make sure that attendees adhere to the curfew. Guards never actually check to see that the students are in their rightful rooms, so long as no one is caught roaming about.

Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, two mutants who in another time and place would be great leaders, decided that their home and brethren need to be protected. And so the two formed the gang known as The Brotherhood of Mutants; the costumes and codenames that in another world would signify them as heroes representing their unity as a gang. The Brotherhood began to protect the streets of Mutant Town from outsiders, troublemakers, and the racist, skinhead gang The Friends of Humanity, whether it's through fights, extortion, patrolling their turf or setting a few examples.

•OOC | In the 1950s a secret organization started to test the limits of human genetics and structure. With science moving faster than ever towards a new horizon, they were determined to be the first to bring humans to the future.
In 2009, a chemical was developed that affected people with a certain genetic marker on their DNA. In a world-wide incident that would later be claimed as multiple terror attacks, the chemical was released into the world’s water sources. Whether this was an action of the Initiative themselves or a rogue agent looking to cause chaos in the world is still up for debate.
As of January 2010 stories have surfaced around the world of people performing extraordinary feats such as teleportation, flying, and even moving things with their minds. Helix began to find and ‘collect’ these special humans; deceiving some by offering help, or abducting others if they resist. No one knows the location they have been taken, somehow they always fall asleep during the ride or just miraculously appear in the medical ward of the building.
Here they will live and receive training to develop control over their powers until Helix decides they are ready to start the second phase of their training.

Think of any long-gone deity from mythology. Now imagine that they aren't truly gone but instead that their essence lives on...is reincarnated inside of that guy who sits next to you on the bus every day. Or Maureen from Accounting. Or maybe even inside of you.
The old deities once existed, once walked the Earth, and mortals trembled at their names. Long ago, they each slowly faded out, their existence only remembered as fables and tales. During this decline, one deity gathered up and called upon his or her last reserves of power and influence to create a reprieve, of sorts, for them all. They would find their essence--their souls if you will--not dissipated amongst the matter of the Universe but instead reborn inside a mortal body. The gods would be mortal, yes, their power would be greatly diminished, yes, and they might not even remember what they once were, but they would at least exist. |

Welcome to Dalton Academy for Boys, one of the most prestigious private boarding schools in Ohio! The boys at Dalton are among the cream of the crop, each one intelligent, witty, and well-mannered. 97% of our graduates are accepted into their first-choice college and go on to shape the future of our great country.
Or so the pamphlets go. As with any high school, Dalton Academy has its own hierarchy and set of rules among the students, with the 'rock star' Warblers leading the boys through a merry four years of mayhem and foolishness. The intelligent, witty, and well-mannered boys of the Academy are often sneaking into town at night (Downtown Columbus is just thirty minutes away!), throwing parties in the dorm, and generally enjoying life.
Of course, Dalton, for all its perks and polish, is still high school. And just because they have a strict zero-tolerance policy (and no female students) doesn't mean drama doesn't thrive within the paneled walls of one of the most prestigious boarding schools in Ohio...
