Veer: What happens when a person...transverses? |
[09 Jul 2009|02:36am] |
Have you been longing for a game that was about writing, not bureaucracy? Characters, not faces? Player-autonomy, not clique-ego? If you've wanted to play in a game where you were trusted to drive the plot, where your intelligence was never insulted, where your writing and judgment were taken seriously, where a lot is expected but much more is delivered...this might be the place for you. Maybe it's time to Veer.
Veer is a psychological horror game involving characters that are snatched from the world they know, and transverse into a world reclaimed by nature and falling apart. They can survive if they are strong and cunning...and lucky. Your characters are challenged to thrive in a world where nothing is certain. You as a writer are challenged to be a part of writing the canon of this world. Are you up to it?

"Imagine that Voldemort’s powerful now. You don’t know who his supporters are, you don’t know who’s working for him and who isn’t; you know he can control people so that they do terrible things without being able stop themselves. You’re scared for yourself, and your family, and your friends. Every week, news comes of more deaths, more disappearances, more torturing … The Ministry of Magic’s in disarray, they don’t know what to do, they’re trying to keep everything hidden from the Muggles, but meanwhile, Muggles are dying too. Terror everywhere … panic … confusion … that’s how it used to be."– Sirius Black
The year is 1978. Across Europe the Wizarding Community lives in fear. Voldemort and his followers are on the rise, leaving behind a reign of terror in their wake. As Voldemort’s supporters increase and more Wizards are murdered or go missing, Wizards and Witches begin to grow even more uneasy and terrified, and an increasing number choose to fall prey to his Empire, out of fear for their lives, unwilling to stand up and fight.
Despite the increasing danger to their loves, a small group of vigilante Wizards, led by Albus Dumbledore, has begun a rebellion, daring to do what the Ministry will not; fight. The Order of the Phoenix is slowly forming into a force to be reckoned with, a threat to not only Voldemort, but the Ministry itself.
Change is on the brink for the students of Hogwarts. No longer will they be safe behind the confines of the castle, unaware to the real dangers of the world. They will soon be forced to make their own loyalties known; a decision that will affect not only the rest of their lives, but the entire Wizarding World.
Choices have already been made for those just out of Hogwarts. They have picked their sides and now they must live with the decisions they have made.
Amongst all of this darkness, the Order is the light needed to give the Wizarding World the power to take on Voldemort’s forces. As both sides fight to gain support, one question still lies: which side will you choose?

It's 1999 and Wizarding Britain is a very different place. Voldemort controls a puppet Ministry and is seeking to expand his grasp into Europe and, eventually, the world. But he is not unopposed. There are many resistance groups working to keep him from accomplishing his goal and, among these, there is one that stands out from the crowd: The Order of the Phoenix.
Secreting Muggleborns out of the country to keep them from enduring the horrors of Ministry-run "work camps", the Order is fighting a losing battle. Their last hope lies with a carefully guarded secret: The identity and location of The Prophesied One.
Sic Infit explores the possibilities of what could have happened had James and Lily Potter stuck with Sirius as their Secret Keeper. What could have happened if Harry had never become The Boy Who Lived? What if Lord Voldemort had actually won?

In the aftermath of the Second Wizarding War, the Malfoy family didn't have many options in the career world. With the money that was left, Lucius ventured into the stock market world and Draco, after much planning (and a little begging), opened Ame Noir, the wizarding world's first club in the heart of London.
After three successful years and two more locations in France and Germany, Draco was ready to conquer America. Boston was the place to start. The city had a thriving magical community and lots of old world charm. Ame Noir Boston was opened in 2004 and has been the favourite of young witches and wizards for five years running.
Ame Noir is an AU Harry Potter-based game set in present day Boston. All original characters with a player driven plot. Be a member of the staff or one of it's regular patrons, be anything you'd like. Ame is many unique lives connected by one bar. Opening soon, we'll save you a seat.

| During the infamous witch craze of the 1600's, Sarah Evans and her daughters, with the help of a local, Native American shaman founded Ipwich Academy in Salem Village, (now known as) Danvers, Massachusetts. Sarah, under the guise of a midwife, opened her home to young witches, and as their powers flourished, so did the Academy. In 1875 the buildings that are known today as Ipwich Academy were erected and became an officially recognized magical institution. It wasn't until the 1900's and the war that raged on in Europe that the Academy finally opened it's doors to wizards as well as witches, along with allowing children from outside of North & South America. Ipwich is a Harry Potter-esque game set in Danvers, Massachusetts in the year 2009. It is an original game based on the world created by J.K. Rowling and has incorporated all the favorite aspects of Harry Potter with the leverage to find its own path in the choice of characters, blood, items, spells, and future destinations. |

Blood Files Seeking Players |
[09 Jul 2009|08:06pm] |
 | Blood Files | Chicago's been my town for years now and I've made sure that everyone knows it. If you mess with Chicago, you're messing with Harry Dresden, Wizard for Hire. Of course, now that the vampires have come out officially, that's gotten a lot more difficult. The werewolves weren't far behind the bloodsuckers and now there's all sorts of things out there that want in on the Bill of Rights. Meanwhile, the White Council and the Wardens are busier than ever before trying to keep the peace. It's not just the supernatural community that needs protecting now. Now it's the whole world and I'm Chicago's only Warden.
Chicago is my town, and if you come here you'd better be prepared to follow the rules.
A supernatural role-play, think True Blood meets The Dresden Files, just opened over at InsaneJournal. Set in Chicago, the game welcomes original character as well as supernatural characters from television, books, and movies. Playing starts TOMORROW! Fun things are already planned. Come join us! Moderators will approve all characters. Please check out the rules and regs, along with character applications, before applying. This will be an adult role-play so mature players wanted!

Halloween at Godric's Hollow changed the course of history -- a savior was slain in his crib, and a Dark Lord rose to great and lasting power.
Headmistress Umbridge has been murdered, Hogwarts closed indefinitely. Werewolf attacks are on the rise, children taken from loving homes because one parent is a werewolf. St. Mungo's is as much a place of torture as of healing as new and better ways of killing are researched. Traitors hide under the banners they chose, while madmen lead the way. The Order is weak, though mobilizing. Some have lost hope in them, while others strive to resurrect the Phoenix.
No one knows what the future will hold.
The world is different. There is no Boy Who Lived to save you. ------------------------------------------------------ |
------------------------------------------------------ This game is over six months old and extremely active. We are looking for dedicated, imaginative players with the time and inclination to help further develop existing plots and help create entirely new ones. Applications are open.

| Have you ever asked yourself: What if? What if the future could be altered? What if people didn’t die when “it was their time”? What if they lived on, having been able to escape fate?
In September 1979, a young and scared man had been fated to die at the terrifying hands of Inferi. While he lay, cold and wet, believing his worst memories were happening right in that moment, he felt a warm hand. The House Elf, sobbing and rocking back and forth, had been found by Albus Dumbledore. While the old wizard couldn’t get a straight answer from the Elf, he did catch snippets of what was said: Master Regulus! Dying! Cave! In that moment, Dumbledore knew what he must do. He could not leave the young man to his death. He had to find a way to save him.
Dumbledore reached Regulus with little time to spare. The man was writhing on the floor, delusional and sobbing. And in his hand, he held a locket. That curiosity that so often came along with Albus Dumbledore had to be suppressed as he looked around for anything that might help the young man. That’s when he saw the cup. Picking it up quickly, he immediately conjured up water. But the cup wouldn’t hold it. Every time the water was about to touch the cup it would vanish. He was left with only one thing to do. In one swift motion, he dipped his hand into the cold water. The effects were instantaneous: The water practically erupted as the Inferi seemed to come to life. But first, Dumbledore made sure the man received the drink.
Even as the first drops met his lips, Regulus began to feel the delusions slipping away. He felt his sanity returning to him and it was a moment before he realized what was happening: Albus Dumbledore was fighting off Inferi that were threatening to attack. Once his mind was cleared, Regulus joined in the fight. He remembered the little boat and wondered if they would both be able to fit in it. They certainly couldn’t swim back, and he had tried Apparition. But even that hadn’t worked.
But he needn’t figure out a plan, for Dumbledore had already figured it out. “Get in the boat!” Came the booming voice and Regulus was quick to obey. He entered the boat and when he had squeezed to the opposite end he realized the boat was moving. It had left without the older wizard. He had tried to stop the boat, but it wouldn’t seize its journey back, and when he had exited it on the opposite bank it returned immediately to the little island. Regulus waited impatiently and before too long, the boat was returning with a still-fighting Dumbledore in its center. The boat docked, Dumbledore stepped out, and the two of them ran for the entrance to the cave.
Regulus could not return to his old life. He could not return home and expect to see his parents again, because he had betrayed the Dark Lord and Kreacher had already told them he was dead and he would surely be found out for his betrayal. Instead, he was allowed to stay at Hogwarts until he was able to figure out a plan.
It is now December 1979 and with Dumbledore’s help, Regulus was able to hide his identity and begin a new life. The tides had turned and while he was once a firm follower of Lord Voldemort, his beliefs had changed. Within a matter of months he had been allowed into the Order of the Phoenix as a full-fledged member. Now, with his help the Order just may be able to crack the secrets. They may be able to save those whose lives would surely be lost.
