But on this day, something is finally different. On this day, he casts the spell he has been working on for months... and through the archway steps his wife, dead for over a year until her husband’s love brought her back. But something has gone wrong. Somewhere in the world, as his wife steps over the threshold from life to death, another random person takes the opposite turn. In the blink of an eye, this random Muggle is no longer living, but at the same time not quite dead; his life force exchanged for that of the Wizard’s wife. And there is more. No one has ever been able to control the veil in the Department of Mysteries and the magic it contains, and this time is no different. The wizard’s spell soon goes even more awry, and his wife is not the only person to step through the veil. Soon witches and wizards who have died in the past find themselves coming through the veil, all of them with no memories past their deaths and some of them with no memory even of that. There is no controlling their arrival, and there is no stopping the exchange of life that occurs every time one of them steps through the veil, alive again. Now the wizarding world must cope with both the arrival of those they thought long-dead, and the sudden looming threat of the Muggles turned into living dead as a result. And those who stepped through the veil- The Resurrected- must learn to live in a world which thought them dead, a world which has moved on without them, a world in which their new life has caused the taking of another. Pax Letale: a modern myth game [18 Sep 2011|07:26pm] PAX LETALE: GODS REAWAKENED Something is stirring in Newport Beach, California. One of the most affluent and exclusive areas in Orange County, Newport Beach is a safe, comfortable space where the real world has a tendency not to to intrude on the pleasures of its citizens. It's a nice, normal, friendly, monochromatic city in a county that's known for the same. In fact, many people say that the majority of Orange County seems like a construct designed to keep the troubles of real life out, creating a plasticine paradise that nothing dark or dirty can penetrate. The residents of Pax Letale are slowing coming to know better. Pax Letale is an exclusive luxury apartment building right on the beach, with easy access to the 405 and all the charm that Newport Beach has to offer. Its residents comprise a surprisingly eclectic demographic for Orange County and Newport in particular, with people from all walks of life being drawn to this building for reasons they can't quite identify. The common thread that binds them, of course, is that they are each of them inhabited by a sleeping god. As they spend more time at Pax, their gods are awakening, though -- and strange things are happening. Natural (and supernatural) mishaps and disasters, disappearing tenants, and quite recently, the concierge was brutally murdered. There are whispers among some that the strange island in the bay, visible from the building, has something to do with all of this. Still others are compelled by the island; if it didn't sound crazy, they'd say it was calling to them. They aren't crazy. [18 Sep 2011|09:47pm] CROSSING TOWNS Since its founding in 1892, Clifton has always been a town divided by its train tracks. Based on the textile industry, there are those that manage and those that work. The East side of the town consists of the Haves while the West is the home of the Have-Nots. Though over one hundred years have passed, the town is no closer to unity. The rich stay on their side of town while the less wealthy stay on theirs though there are extremes to both social classes. Each side has their shops, their restaurants, and even their own schools. The three factories are still going strong; however, some residents are slowly spreading out to other local businesses and even commute to nearby New York City. Growth is occurring all around them even if some in Clifton are still stuck in their ways. This past summer changed everything, however. A severe weather pattern brought the worst weather the town had seen in a century. The tornado that blew through the area reduced East Clifton High to nothing but rubble, leaving the students with nowhere to go. After arguing and debating amongst the residents of Clifton, Mayor Wilson Davis made the final call to combine East Clifton High with West Clifton High. Few are happy with the arrangement. Not only are there years of prejudice to overcome, but there is overcrowding, biases, and even the merging of school teams causing chaos. But they've got to make it work somehow. Will the merging of the two schools unite the town once and for all, or tear them apart irreparably? GAME BEGINS OCTOBER 8TH! DON'T BE LEFT OUT!
