[14 Sep 2011|03:32am] Wizarding Britain is at war... 1979 is winding toward its own close. Conflicts between the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters continue as Dark Lord continues pressing for dominion of the Wizarding world, and the Ministry will not stand for it. With the rise of a new administration five years ago, Britain has seen the situation grow more and more tense as all three sides raise the stakes one after another. Laws prohibit travel without Ministry approval, and increasingly, democracy seems to be giving way to a police state. Muggleborns and their advocates disappear in the night as terrorists spill innocent blood in the streets. Pureblood manors are burned and ransacked as an organization for peace lashes out to fight fire with fire. Chaos ensues. The loudest question on everyone's minds and lips is the simplest: who will win? No one is certain, and no one is certain what will be left for those winners when the smoke clears. lockdown is a Marauder-Era AU roleplaying game, taking the world of Harry Potter and exploring the theme of an extended civil war and its effect on the populace. The themes of freedom, safety, peace and conflict, the opposing forces of light and dark, and the idea of what measures are called for in times of war will all be questioned, examined, and turned on their head. In the end, the work of the characters involved and the ends to which they are willing to go, are the only things that will decide Britain's ultimate fate. [14 Sep 2011|08:33am] PREMISE | RULES | FAQ | CAST | APPLY In 2010, the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office of the Ministry of Magic finally granted permission for the next wave of muggle electronics -- the television -- to be studied and modified with magic. Ten years later, there was a telly in the home of every witch and wizard with programming ranging from goblin talk shows to galleon game shows to dramas, comedies, music videos, and even movies. More recently, 2021 saw the advent of reality shows, like The Fashion Show and Love Potion No. 9. Get Real! was conceived by Maximus Trimble and Rhonda Roads as a way to appeal to the teenage demographic as well as pull in an older crowd on the strength of nostalgia. It's a reality TV show all about the life of the "average" Hogwarts student and the drama, laughs, and loves that blossom between them. Season 1 begins filming this school year. By proxy of returning to school this year all students and parents have given their permission to be featured and/or mentioned on the programme. Jukebox Glee [14 Sep 2011|06:59pm] The year is 1957. The government has just mandated country-wide integration at all schools - which the President is enforcing with military troops. In Lima, Ohio, this means that Asian, Latino, and Black students at the Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in Lima Heights are being integrated into previously-White William McKinley High School, a project that is jointly led by Spanish teacher Ms. Holly Holliday and principal Mr. William Schuester. Tensions are running high, to the point where some parents are contemplating enrolling their white sons in the private all-boys school, Dalton Academy, which thus far is successfully avoiding integration. The McKinley glee club, run by Ms. April Rhodes, serves as a safe haven at the school. However, not every familiar Glee character will choose to be in the club, for many will be put off by the teacher’s reputation as a loose woman. Other familiar faces include Ms. Shannon Beiste, health and physical education teacher, Mr. Ken Tanaka, football coach, Ms. Emma Pillsbury, school guidance counselor, Mrs. Terri Schuester, nurse, and Sue Sylvester, esq., head of the school’s nationally-ranked cheerleading program. Jukebox Glee will be an AU game, with all student characters from the show available for play. Adults will be NPCs and original characters are welcome. In order to maintain appropriate and safe conduct, explicit roleplaying of extreme situations of prejudice, stereotyping, or hate-related crimes will not be tolerated in the main community, in the OOC community, or in personal character journals. The students of Hogwarts have gone back to worrying about homework, boy troubles and the quickly changing fashion trends. As the technology in the Muggle world continues to progress, the wizarding world has started its own research. By 2022 the experiments in the Department of Mysteries mixing technology and magic have started causing adverse affects on the world around them. No one quite knows what they're doing in there, but if the students of Hogwarts want to flourish and finish their classes, they'll have to find a way to embrace or ignore the effects the expriments have on the magic they're supposed to be learning to use.
