PREMISE RULES SUPERNATURALS CAST HOLDS APPLICATION Two days ago this was an empty lot, an abandoned field near the edge of town. Then the trucks rolled in, big semis huffing clouds of noxious fumes, and able-bodied men jumped out to set stakes in the ground, run string to mark off areas. The townspeople whispered excitedly as the posters and flyers arrived around town, posted on telephone poles and bulletin boards, stacks of them on the counters in shops. The Dark Carnival was in town. The tents aren't the gay red and white stripes of the carnivals of yesteryear; these are black and gray, burgundy and purple, dark jewel tones lit from within by lanterns and candles and blacklights. Torches burn at the entrance and a sign warns all who enter that they are lost. The Ferris Wheel is a hulking beast against the sky; carnies walk among the crowd dressed in leather jackets embroidered like a skeleton's infrastructure, weaving expertly between the marks. Barkers call to passersby, luring them in for the sights and sounds. Canvas banners ripple in the wind, which carries with it the scent of food cooking, the hot smell of machinery and oil. There are cries of laughter and delighted squeals coming from the funhouse, the freak tent, the thrill rides. People walk out of the psychic's tent looking a little uneasy, laughing it off as hokum even as their skin crawls. And some of those shrieks from the funhouse... well, they sound a little too sincere, don't they? This is the Dark Carnival. |

Salazar Slytherin wasn't the only person to leave his secrets embedded in the very structure of Hogwarts itself. But he was one of the most determined. And after another of his dangerous secrets was used against muggleborn with devastating effect, public opinion turned against Slytherin -- not just the man, but the Hogwarts house.
Three years and a lot of negotiating later, the four new houses of Hogwarts are about to be introduced for the optional summer term of 2021. But Hogwarts isn't just a mundane building that doesn't care what happens within it. And Salazar Slytherin wasn't the only person to leave his secrets embedded in the very structure of Hogwarts itself.
From the quarrels of the Founders to the enhancements of the Victorian Age to the magic added after the most recent Battle of Hogwarts, Hogwarts embodies the magic of the ages, secret lore and forgotten history. And what the reformers didn't realize in their zeal is that a great deal of that magic ties into the four traditional Hogwarts houses.
And what happens to Hogwarts when those four houses are replaced? Things Fall Apart thingsfall_mod Premise // Character list // Application // MORE... |

Solemnly Sworn A Dark Marauder Era RPG 1979 ...
No one is safe.
Frequent attacks and disappearances have rippled through the Wizarding World with no clear connection or reason. Scholars, children and Ministry officials are being picked off at random leaving fear in the wake of destruction and death as Lord Voldemort ascends to power. The Ministry is hard pressed to end the struggle as Death-Eaters watch their every internal move so closely that resistance is nearly futile.
The world is dividing, and there is little way of escaping it as loyalties shift beneath the feet of the innocent.
But life goes on amidst the atrocities; people fall in love, get married and try to adapt to a world of war. In the shadows there are some who would fight back. The Order of the Phoenix is hardly more than a fleeting thought of revolution, but as Death-Eaters gain influence amongst the fragile minds within the community, citizens have begun taking the fight into their own hands.
Which side will you choose, and who will succeed?

Pax Letale: a modern myth game |
[26 May 2011|08:22pm] |
 |
PAX LETALE: GODS REBORN
In Southern California, there recently opened a new luxury apartment building. Impeccably designed, impossibly convenient, ideally located, Pax Letale is the sort of residential Shangri La where Southern Californians spend all manner of favors and years trying to secure a spot. But Pax doesn't have a waiting list, nor can a place there be bought or sold. The people who find their way to Pax Letale belong there.
Every tenant of Pax is a reincarnated deity whose worshipers are by and large long dead. Once very real, these gods began to fade as science and reason dispelled the probability of their existence. Reborn as mortals, their essences remain, waiting to be awakened. Somehow, sometimes one by one, sometimes in groups or pairs, these creatures of destiny have discovered Pax, and have not been able to resist its pull.
For at Pax Letale, the awakening has begun. As these gods rediscover themselves and each other, the seemingly invisible but ubiquitous management tracks each of them quite closely, and the very building itself seems to have an agenda of its own. And as the gods made humans in their own image - or humans made them in theirs - so will the the behavior of the people of Pax turn as dark as their myths. Blood, strife, sex, petty plots, torture - even murder will wind their ways into Pax Letale.
A lovely place. A peculiar place. A dangerous place.
Available Tenants:Enki is the Babylonian god of water, crafts, intelligence and creation. Twin of and best friend of Ereshkigal, goddess of the Underworld, he is often seen as a positive foil to his brother Enlil, utilizing his magic and cunning for the good of others; he brings aid to deities and humans alike, serving as a rare masculine nuturer in a chaotic and often oppressively patriarchal pantheon. He will likely have connections to Tiamat, Ereshkigal, and other Sumero-Babylonian deities. Brighid is the Celtic goddess of the forge, inspiration, compassion and creativity, and a patron goddess of artists, craftsmen, and other creative types. In her mortal life, she may have connections to her parents, her siblings, or any of the Celtic pantheon. Masauwu is a Hopi deity sometimes called the Skeleton Man, Keeper of Fire, Spirit of Death, and the Master of the Fourth (present) World. He is depicted as a dark-skinned man wearing a mask; sometimes the creature beneath this mask is described as handsome, sometimes as a disfigured monster. Connections to Native American deities and gods and goddesses of death or enlightenment are likely. ADDITIONAL AVAILABLE TENANTSDon't see a tenant that interests you? Other deities and pantheons are welcome - pick one of the active pantheons in the game, or talk to a mod if there's one you don't see, and make your modern god as you see him/her/it.Pax Letale is under new management.
