Life changed in 1930 for every wizard and witch in London. Gellert Grindelwald killed Albus Dumbledore on a muggle street and rose to power. Nothing is like it should be. It wasn't long before Grindelwald extended his power to the muggle world as well as the magical world. Halfbloods, muggleborns, and even muggles live in fear. Breaking boundaries and rewriting old laws, he controlled everything he could see. Unhappy with just that, he stretched his power, spanning countries.

The Class of the Chrysanthemum rose early against the dark dictator, only to be broken into factions when their leader, Cassiopeia Black, met her untimely death at the end of Grindelwald's wand. Still the Class of the Chrysanthemum fought on in factions, not knowing who to trust.

It's war, but no one seems to know it.

Set seventy years after his initial take over in 2000, the new millennium, some people still hold hope for the future, but some have given up entirely.

Let The Games Begin [08 Feb 2011|11:24am]

The 74th Hunger Games started a revolution that changed the face of the country of Panem forever. The rise of the Mockingjay and the fall of the Capitol fulfilled the dreams of the many contestants that came before, slaughtered for the entertainment of the rich and bored.

Each of these contestants had a life that was lost to history, and a death that was not. They had hopes, dreams, family and friends. The only thing they had in common was being chosen to pay for a war that not a one of them had fought. It is time for these stories to be told.

Let the Games Begin explores the tales of these children, starting from the first Hunger Games. Each round of the games will last until there is one victor, a maximum of four weeks later, before skipping ahead to the next year.

Will you survive? Or will your time in the arena be your last?

Musings

Musings has always existed, a world alongside our world.

In Musings, people live the way we do, eat the same food we do, love the same way we do, and work the same minimum wage jobs we do. The differences? They all have their roots in fictional characters, and they are immortal.

Though they are not the characters themselves, they carry in them the essences of characters from fiction. The sources that they spring from do not exist for them, but they are based on fiction we are familiar with all the same - though no one has ever read a Batman comic, there is a rich young man who uses his money to fight the forces of evil that destroyed his life. Though Moby Dick was never written, a sailor still stalks the bars of a town on the sea, watching, waiting.

Now, a portal has opened between the world of Musings and the mortal world, and the Creations (as they call themselves) have begun crossing over in droves. Now, they have abilities that they did not have in their own world, abilities that they can choose to do with what they will. There is no great prescribed fate for these echoes of fiction, only the destinies they choose to weave for themselves - living and losing on the shores of a new world.

Most Wanted: Darcy seeks a Wickham (Pride and Prejudice), Rogue seeks a Gambit (X-Men), Viola seeks a Sebastian (Twelfth Night), Howl seeks a Sophie (Howl's Moving Castle), Ramona seeks a Gideon (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), Black Cat seeks a Spider-Man (Spider-Man).

In the 1950s a secret organization started to test the limits of human genetics and structure. With science moving faster than ever towards a new horizon, they were determined to be the first to bring humans to the future.

In 2009, a chemical was developed that affected people with a certain genetic marker on their DNA. In a world-wide incident that would later be claimed as multiple terror attacks, the chemical was released into the world’s water sources. Whether this was an action of the Initiative themselves or a rogue agent looking to cause chaos in the world is still up for debate.

As of March 2010 stories have surfaced around the world of people performing extraordinary feats such as teleportation, flying, and even moving things with their minds. Helix began to find and ‘collect’ these special humans; deceiving some by offering help, or abducting others if they resist. No one knows the location they have been taken, somehow they always fall asleep during the ride or just miraculously appear in the medical ward of the building.

Here they will live and receive training to develop control over their powers until Helix decides they are ready to start the second phase of their training.

You think you know London, its streets and alleys like the creases of your palm. You don't know all its secrets. In its depths are places to buy amulets and tarot readings, a talisman that permits the wearer to manipulate luck hangs alongside bottles of herbs and demon's blood. Books so ancient the pages are tissue-thin jostle against postcards of buses and telephone boxes. There are bars where the clientele don't just find the dim light flattering, but downright necessary, and the smell of brimstone lingers in the nostrils. There are corners and recesses where magic isn't trickery or sleight of hand, but blood and bone and flesh and you might -- you might -- catch sight of feathers pure as snow and light, if you know where to go. If you know how to see. There's a pitched battle being fought for this other London and your London besides -- one in which every human in existence is being counted in a gamble for souls, Heaven and Hell trying to tip the scales and grave-faced Librarians holding them steady. And all the time, people go about their lives with a little pinch of something extra in a London you'll never see.
