the gist
Think of any long-gone deity from mythology. Imagine they once truly existed. Now imagine that they aren't truly gone but instead their essence lives on, is reincarnated inside of that guy who sits next to you on the bus every day. Or Maureen from Accounting. Or maybe even you. They could be anyone, young or old, male or female, any race, anyone.
The old deities once existed, once walked the Earth, and mortals trembled at their names. Long ago, they each slowly faded out, their existence only remembered as fables and tales. During this decline, one deity gathered up and called upon his or her last reserves of power and influence to create a reprieve, of sorts, for them all. They would find their essence, their souls if you will, not dissipated amongst the matter of the Universe but instead reborn inside a mortal body. They would be mortal, yes, their power would be greatly diminished, yes, and they might not even remember what they once were, but they would at least exist. |

Want to play a superhero and have grand adventures? Or perhaps you prefer a school-based game with all the drama involved in growing up and learning your place in the world? CSI-type private investigations? Dark and gritty spy games? Romance and relationships? X-Project has it all!
X-Project is an X-Men movieverse RPG on Livejournal. Set after X2, the game has been running since May 5, 2003 and uses a combination of in-character journals and email/IM logs. Whatever you might be looking for, be it classic superhero adventures, high school drama, international espionage or interpersonal relationships, X-Project has it all. The game would prefer applicants to consider available NPCs and socks, but applications for new/previously unplayed characters will be considered, especially if they're students under 17. To help give you an idea of each character's history, a series of "cards" for each available character/NPC is available and, from there, applicants can easily reach the character's wiki page.

Six degrees of separation (also referred to as the "Human Web") refers to the idea that everyone is on average approximately six steps away from any other person on Earth, so that a chain of, "a friend of a friend" statements can be made, on average, to connect any two people in six steps or fewer.
In December 2005, Wizarding Great Britain is finally ready to move on from the events of May 1998. Hogwarts reconstruction has been completed, old shops have been restored and reopened and new shops have popped up in Wizarding towns. The community and commerce is thriving once more.
However, old prejudices die hard. School rivalries still ring true, Pureblood Supremecists still hold their views with utmost importance and Muggleborn Rights Activists still fight for complete equality. Not everyone gets along and this is no perfect world. Where will you fit in? Will you be the Boy Hero having drinks at a local pub with the Slytherin Prince? Will you be the Bubbling Badger secretly pining after the Raven Seeker? Will you be the Brawny Sidekick struggling to shed pretense in order to strike up a friendship with the Bookish Brunette?

A Post-Warts, Non Deathly Hallows Compliant Game
By the spring of 1999 the Trio had collected and destroyed all six of the Horcruxes and they set out to find the Dark Lord hoping to end it once and for all. At the climax of the duel, Harry gained the upper hand and Voldemort, knowing he had seconds left, used his last lifeline: a time turner. With the fall of their Lord, the Death Eaters abandoned the battle and it appeared to the wizarding world that their greatest enemy had been defeated. Unknown to them, the time turner had brought Voldemort into 2002 where he was already gathering his followers and one more Horcrux still remained. Voldemort had unknowingly created another when he had killed Harry's parents and attempted to kill Harry. The newly shattered part of his soul was transferred into the infant when the Dark Lord cast the killing curse.
The New Year of 2003 would be marked with tragedy. The Dark Lord would announce his return at the Ministry’s Annual New Year’s Ball where innocents were attacked and dozens were slaughtered. In the aftermath of the battle, accusatory eyes turned to the once celebrated hero; Harry Potter. Overnight the news spread and people began to feel again the terror that had yet to fade completely. Over the next few months the Ministry worked around the clock to assure the people that this time wouldn’t be like the last; this time they should place their trust with the government and not in the hands of an adolescent hero. The Ministry’s demeanor became one of confidence. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named had struck out twice already and this time the situation would be handled properly. Voldemort had other plans.
On June 23rd the Ministry of Magic fell. Trust and security was shattered when Voldemort and his army entered the Ministry building, having been given access from within. Death Eaters and dark creatures alike swarmed through the structure, destroying everything in their path; among the dead was found every member of the Wizengamot including the Minister of Magic himself. Once and for all the Dark Lord proved what he was capable of.
With their Headquarters in ruins, the Ministry has been forced to relocate and is scrambling to come to terms with their losses and what it meant for the future. Wizarding Britain looks to the future with little hope while the Trio desperately search for the missing piece, knowing that if the Dark Lord had returned that their mission had not yet been completed. Another Horcrux must still be in existence and destroying it is the only way to ensure their liberation.
