For as long as anyone can remember, the City has always been one of the largest metropolitan centers in the world. It has had its share of glory and decline, but none so great as the age following the founding of OzCorp. Michael Ozma was no man of magic, but he might as well have been, for the technological wonders he wrought.
Today, however, the Gilded Age is long past. OzCorp, now led by Ozma's three daughters, has become corrupt, and the City has fallen from its glory days. Crime and drugs now rule the streets, though some aristocrats continue to live above it all.
Inspired by folk-lore and fairy-tales, Not So Far Away is a unique Role-Playing World that brings characters from fairytale, folklore, and mythology from around the world together into an ever-expanding universe.

Apartments For RentVACANT. Isis was worshiped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the matron of nature and magic. Devoted and wise, Isis was loyal to a fault and well-loved in Egypt. Her mortal seeming may be connected to her brother-husband Osiris, her brother Set, and her sister Nephthys, as well as the other Egyptian deities.
VACANT. Apollo was the Greek god of the sun, though he wasn't actually the sun. He was also the god of prophecy, medicine and healing, music, and a variety of other domains that made him popular among gods and men alike. He was famous for his Oracle at Delphi, and like most Greek gods, loved the ladies. His human self is likely to have connections with those of his twin sister, Artemis, his father, Zeus, his brother, Ares, and other Olympian gods like Poseidon and Aphrodite.
VACANT. Masauwu is a Hopi deity sometimes called the Skeleton Man, Keeper of Fire, Spirit of Death, and the Master of the Fourth (present) World. He is depicted as a dark-skinned man wearing a mask; sometimes the creature beneath this mask is described as handsome, sometimes as a disfigured monster. Connections to Native American deities and gods and goddesses of death or enlightenment are likely.

Premise:
There is an apartment building in California called 'Pax Letale.' Most people ignore its auspicious name, though they would be advised to pay more attention to its meaning.
It is a strange building.
Every man, woman and child in the building is a reincarnated myth, the stories told to humans for hundreds, sometimes thousands of years. Once very real, the myths began to fade as science and reason dispelled the probability of their existence. They have all been reborn in human forms, though their essence remains, waiting to be awakened at the right time, in the right place.
Now is the time - Pax Letale is the place. As their lives connect and weave together, as they follow their petty desires and long-held grudges, they are, all of them, on the brink of disaster. Their Landlord knows their every move, and the building they live in seems to have an agenda of its own. People are tortured, people die, people plot behind each other's backs and sneak around and cheat. They love, they fight, they draw blood. |
