What have you been listening to?

The Melody Institute of Advanced Music Learning is an extremely hard school to get into. Last year, only 5 percent of applicants went on to the second round of auditions. But to attend Melody, you don't have to be a specific age, race, gender, sexuality - you don't even have to play a particular kind of music. All that Melody requires is you be the very best, the cream of the crop. In return, you will be offered a full scholarship, a small stipend, and a chance to take part in the the most avant-garde teaching program in the world, government-sponsored and proven extremely effective for building the skills of even the most genius musicians. But why is the government so interested? And why do some of the musicians that come into Melody leave... so different?

What else are you hearing?

The 1996-1997 school year ended with the death of Albus Dumbledore, but while he and Harry were uncovering the truth behind Lord Voldemort's immortality Lord Voldemort was himself in the final stages of a plan that would bring him that much closer to everlasting life.... To take over the Ministry of Magic. Break into the Department of Mysteries. And solve the mystery of the Veil -- the doorway between life and death.

On 1 August 1997, a battle raged inside the Ministry as Death Eaters fought Aurors and Ministry officials for the control of the Ministry for Magic -- and the control of Wizarding England. The Order of the Phoenix found out hours too late, and by that time, Voldemort had won.

The next day, the Daily Prophet announced that Lord Voldemort had declared himself Minister of Magic. The reaction was immediate, as countless witches and wizards fled the country. They, as the remaining magical population would soon discover, were the lucky ones. While St. Mungo's remains neutral and Gringotts Bank has taken a violently oppositional stance, the remaining wizarding institutions, including Hogwarts, have no choice but to go along with the Dark Lord's demands.

While the Death Eaters have been running the country, slowly but surely destroying all that was good about wizarding society, Voldemort has been examining the veil. It didn't take long before he found a way out.

Thus he entered through the veil to explore the realm of the dead. But what he didn't count on was that as he entered, someone was released. Looking exactly as they did the day they died, that soul, who was in stasis at the happiest time of their life, has no knowledge of current affairs or their life after that happiest moment. But they're back, and the only way out for them is to die again. But they don't remember death - they only remember life.

Appearing in a discrete alleyway in the heart of Diagon Alley, they are lost, confused, and have no idea what to do. But soon after the first of the undead was discovered, those loyal to the Order have been carefully watching, making sure those who return are properly cared for and given the latest in wizarding communication: the journals. If they have family still alive, they are put in touch with them, and they do their best to readjust to life in 1997.

But the question remains: what is Voldemort looking for beyond the veil? What is it that he thinks holds the key to immortality? Only time will tell, and if Voldemort discovers it before Harry Potter destroys the remaining Horcruxes, then the wizarding world will forever be subject to the Dark Lord's rule.

"Imagine that Voldemort’s powerful now. You don’t know who his supporters are, you don’t know who’s working for him and who isn’t; you know he can control people so that they do terrible things without being able stop themselves. You’re scared for yourself, and your family, and your friends. Every week, news comes of more deaths, more disappearances, more torturing … The Ministry of Magic’s in disarray, they don’t know what to do, they’re trying to keep everything hidden from the Muggles, but meanwhile, Muggles are dying too. Terror everywhere … panic … confusion … that’s how it used to be."– Sirius Black

The year is 1978. Across Europe the Wizarding Community lives in fear. Voldemort and his followers are on the rise, leaving behind a reign of terror in their wake. As Voldemort’s supporters increase and more Wizards are murdered or go missing, Wizards and Witches begin to grow even more uneasy and terrified, and an increasing number choose to fall prey to his Empire, out of fear for their lives, unwilling to stand up and fight.

Despite the increasing danger to their loves, a small group of vigilante Wizards, led by Albus Dumbledore, has begun a rebellion, daring to do what the Ministry will not; fight. The Order of the Phoenix is slowly forming into a force to be reckoned with, a threat to not only Voldemort, but the Ministry itself.

Change is on the brink for the students of Hogwarts. No longer will they be safe behind the confines of the castle, unaware to the real dangers of the world. They will soon be forced to make their own loyalties known; a decision that will affect not only the rest of their lives, but the entire Wizarding World.

Choices have already been made for those just out of Hogwarts. They have picked their sides and now they must live with the decisions they have made.

Amongst all of this darkness, the Order is the light needed to give the Wizarding World the power to take on Voldemort’s forces. As both sides fight to gain support, one question still lies: which side will you choose?

Since February 1, 2009, Darkness Rising has been an active, friendly, and canon compliant Marauders Era RPG taking place in 1978 featuring talented, amazing writers. We seek to find even more active, friendly, and kick-ass writers for our RPG to take us even deeper into the story as it unfolds.

MMWP RPG [13 Aug 2009|10:33am]
Rules | The Characters | Application | Played By's

Tired of those games that are purely meant for shipping purposes and barely focus on the events of the first war? We are, and that is exactly why we have created Waddiwasi.

Tidbits of information is all we have been given, tiny nuances to sustain us, but what about the fine details? What really happened during the First War when You-Know-Who was at his peak and the Wizarding World was barely staying above water? The individual stories of those during that time and the conflicts they had were never written, but they certainly existed. Students just out of Hogwarts viewed the world with endless possibilities; some acquired jobs, found a place to live, settled down and had a family, while others made their parents proud, took the Dark Mark, and joined an organisation which promised to restore the wizarding world to its former glory.

So join us and let's write their history, a complete history, of the events that happened that affected the fate of the wizarding world forever.

Wanted: Molly and Arthur Weasley, Augustus Rookwood, Mary MacDonald, Gwenog Jones, Antonin Dolohov, Amos Diggory, Bertha Jorkins, Mafalda Hopkirk, Sturgis Podmore, Bartimus Crouch Sr., and more! If they were alive during the 70's, we would love to have them! Original characters are considered.

astounding!

The mutant gene popped up unexpectedly in 1999 though some would argue it began in 2000. For a while, maybe a year or so this had gone unnoticed but it was only for so long that something so spectacular could go unnoticed. It was in Wisconsin a boy by the name of Sammy Johnson had been spotted flying above his house by one of his neighbors. Immediately the neighbor had done the most logical thing she could do, inform the police. The police investigated, but the boy (and his parents) could not prove anything about this supposed ability of flight. Then, not even a week later a girl was caught turning invisible, another girl was creating acidic poisons with her hands and a newly wed couple was controlling and creating fire. Naturally, the Government had to get involved.

They'd gone to these homes and these families to question them about their abilities, and after much deliberating and time the first mutant hospital was created in 2002. Immediately these people were shipped away to the hospital for testing. The term "mutant" had been coined and was quickly applied to anybody who possessed powers. With the knowledge of these mutants out, the human race was now growing to understand the real term of fear. What were these mutants capable of, what were they going to do to the regular humans that didn't possess these powers? continue

This was not exactly what they had in mind when they first started the test.

There were concerns, of course, jokes even, that the whole thing would destroy the world. But the Large Hadron Collider didn’t destroy the world. No, it did the exact opposite: it opened our world. September 10, 2008, was when it all started, when scientists executed the Large Hadron Collider and They started showing up. They came unexpectedly, in small numbers, sometimes in larger ones. They claimed to be from somewhere else, somewhere magical or mundane, far or near. Somewhere else. Somewhere other than our world.

Nine days later, the Collider broke. The people though, they remained.

No one else came through, but the ones who had stayed. Ever since then, the government has been rounding them up whenever they can find them. There are questions, maybe even a few experiments, but for the most part, these people just sit around and wait. For what? For when the Collider comes back online this October.

Then they hope to be sent back

The Gilded Court: A Royal Harry Potter AU RPG [13 Aug 2009|11:30pm]

A Time of Chaos

On Saturday, August 1, 2003, during a charity quidditch match, an unknown wizard attempted to assassinate Prince Draco. The aftermath of the event left four dead and sixty injured, and thousands of galleons in property damage as riots broke out in Hogsmeade. Only two things are known about the assassin: he was sitting in the press box, and he harbors a grudge against the royal family.

Suspicion is running high, as a group of radical muggleborn activists are protesting the mandatory summer school for muggleborn students. Their constant protests have become not only a problem for businesses in Hogsmeade, but they have threatened to interrupt the return of students to Hogwarts. Families and friends of aurors and hit wizards are in an uproar over members of both squads being sent to Iraq to fight dark wizards. Who tried to kill the prince... and will they try again?

The Gilded Court is an AU Harry Potter game set in the fictional royal courts of the Malfoy dynasty, who rule both muggle and wizarding Britain. Will you chose to be a noble, dodging the paparazzi and jockeying for position, a ministry cog, working hard to try to get ahead, or muggleborn activist, fighting to find out what muggleborn magic is on the decline?

Most Wanted: Weasleys, Frank and Alice Longbottom, Older Nobles, Edgar and Susan Bones, Ted Tonks, Cedric Diggory, Vincent Crabbe, Palace Employees, Muggleborn Activists
