It all started in 1989 when the town fell victim to, of all things, a rain of fire -- a meteor shower. The town was devestated. So many lives were lost, homes destroyed, and soon, Sunnydale became known as the meteor capital of the world. A shadow seemed to envelop the tiny town. Whispers of strange disappearances, disturbing murders, and questionable establishments have been spreading across the town. Something was coming. Everyone could feel it. [17 Jun 2008|05:51pm] | PREMISE | APPLICATION | RULES | TAKEN CHARACTERS/PBs | FAQ | MOD JOURNAL | MAIN COMM | OOC COMM | At the northern reaches of the New York metropolitan area, nestled in the state's scenic Orange County, Mercury Falls was founded 1685. Traditional, the residents pride themselves on the peaceful normality of the town. However, not everyone sees this as a good thing. Children, growing and graduating, move on to what they see as bigger and better things. With nothing to bring in new blood, Mercury Falls, having celebrated its tricentennial and then some, seemed to have been given a "use-by" date. Mercury Falls High, once the pride of the town, was now decidedly average. In sports, they were win some, lose some. In academics, they fell comfortably somewhere in the middle of the achievement continuum. At least, that had always been the status quo, until about a year ago. The election of the new mayor brought about change. In the high school, grades started rising steadily, new classes were introduced and the Panthers had never had a better season. Grant money is rolling in and with it, new families and life. The town is once again flourishing, but for a troubling trend among certain students. As much as the town would like to deny and ignore it, at a disturbing rate, students are disappearing - going missing, committing suicide, running away. What is going on in Mercury Falls? Each and every life ends as such, with one final breath but what if you could take that back? Take back that last breath, breathe life into someone long since past.. in the year 2023, it's not all that far fetched. From out of the Department of Mysteries finally came the veil. It was due for inspection as many odd things had been happening in the room containing it. It was thought that the removal of said object wouldn't upset much but it did. The very same day that the ancient object left the place it had resided for hundreds of years people began popping up. Normally, that wouldn't be a particularly terrible thing but the people whose faces started appearing at both the Ministry and Hogwarts were known to be dead. As it were, apparently, the dead were returning. With death in a reverse cycle, the Ministry is in a panic. No one knows why they're here, how they've come to be, and what this means for their world. The dead and the living have always had a rather thick line between them and with people stepping over - with souls becoming flesh and blood once mnore - who's to say what will happen?
