The year is 1976 - a time of bellbottoms and platform shoes, disco music and embarrassing slang, burning bras and damning the establishment. It's a time of change and upheaval, where new ways of thinking are embraced by many and scoffed at by an equal amount. People are beginning to question the government, wondering if things should be done slightly differently. New kinds of music and fashion is emerging, making more conventional adults complain about the noise and wonder what will happen to the world with such a corrupt generation in the works. There is laughter, happiness, and the world is just as it always should have been.

But underneath the seemingly peaceful world, there is a darker plot being stirred about that is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. Every day, more articles come out in the Daily Prophet describing strange attacks, curious deaths, and all out mysterious events that not even the editor can smooth over to not seem interconnected. The people are beginning to wonder, putting the puzzle pieces together. The older witches and wizards are reminded of the dark time of Gridelwald from years ago, praying that history will not go about its usual way of repeating itself. All the while, the not so quiet whisper of a man named Voldemort who prefers to be addressed as the Dark Lord goes through the masses.

Mad World is a role-playing game that takes place during the sixth year of the boys that we have come to know and love as the Marauders. We are a book canon compliant game, meaning that now that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" has come out, we do expect all characters to abide by any and all canon that has been established by JK Rowling. We've been going strong since August of 2007, but we're always looking for more characters and players to join in the fun!

Wanted Characters: Amycus Carrow, Richard Crabbe, Barty Crouch, Barnabas Cuffe, John Dawlish, Anthony Goyle, Rabastan Lestrange, Rodolphus Lestrange, Marlene McKinnon, Fabian Prewett, Gideon Prewett, Gawain Robards, Rita Skeeter, Arthur Weasley, Molly Weasley, Caleb Yaxley

No Such Place: An Original Fantasy Game [18 Feb 2008|01:20am]

“ . . . All that was left in Pandora's box was hope.”

During the 21st century, a global pandemic consumed the world. Due to its devastating nature, they dubbed it the “Pandora Virus.” No one had time to truly study it or to counter the rapid spreading of PV. The virus tore through the world’s population, killing almost one-third of humanity in its first month alone. Countries everywhere grew panicked, believing it to be a work of biological terrorism. Nation stood against nation, and most of the earth was laid to waste within just a handful of months by the combined effects of nuclear war and the Pandora Virus. Survivors immune to the virus found the world uninhabitable, and many of them perished due to radiation poisoning or famine.

There were others, though. Others who inhabited this planet along with human beings, but they had been in hiding for many centuries. Praeternaturals, they were — legendary beings and creatures believed to be nothing more than myth. All of them were also biologically immune to the Pandora Virus. With the foresight of the oracle named Euryale, praeternaturals learned of what was to come shortly before it began and prepared for the preordained onslaught. They built safe havens in hidden areas across the world that were protected heavily by magic. Taking in humans and praeternaturals alike before the war, these communities provided a stable living environment for the survival of all species.

One such safe haven is an ancient land once inhabited by elves. It has been renovated into a sanctuary and renamed to Elysium. Located in the modern-day Republic of Macedonia near Lake Ohrid, it was once a part of Greece. Now, it is a part of the process to one day rebuild the world.

So we all know that Captain Jack Harkness runs Torchwood Three, that Torchwood One was destroyed in the Battle of Canary Wharf, that Torchwood Two is headed by "a very strange man" and that Torchwood Four is currently misplaced. Well that's all fine and dandy, but things are about to start changing. Torchwood One is reopening just outside of London and is now known as Torchwood 1.1 and Torchwood Two's leader has been replaced. Torchwood Three of course isn't any different, with the exception that Jack has been missing for a bit. The big thing is that Torchwood Four is back on the map, headed by the same person it had been before it was 'misplaced'.

It seems Torchwood Four, headed by one Major Charlie Sheppard, had a minor malfunction involving Cardiff's rift. In fact, Torchwood Four is located right near Torchwood Three, or at least it was until it and its team got pulled into another universe. Which is where Lucian Devereaux comes in. It seems that he got a hold of a Time Agent's vortex manipulator in the far future and has been using it at his own pleasure. Well, until it backfired and he was sent to the present and made the rift flux, sucking Torchwood Four into it. Luckily, Major Sheppard wasn't there at the time.

Now as for Lucian, he'd been jumping through time randomly and unwillingly as he tried to fix the vortex manipulator. During this time he realized that he'd jump from the present in Cardiff to some different point in time and then back. Along the way, he managed to bring back people with him who shouldn't be during that time, and that caused the rift to go haywire, also bringing people to the present that shouldn't be there: those that are dead, those who aren't born yet, and those in other dimensions. And so, Torchwood realized they needed to work extra hard to try and stop this and thus re-established Torchwood Four, somehow convincing Charlie to head it once more. And that is where we begin...

Ever at the ready is a Torchwood/Doctor Who RP that allows for any character from either series (old and new) to be incorporated, as well as original characters! It takes place around the start of season two. We've only just started and we're looking for a majority of the canon cast still, including The Doctor (any of them) and most of Torchwood Three. We're also looking for bad guys and aliens to be hunted down, as well as people to fill up the other Torchwood Teams. If you think you're ready, then we're ready to have you join the team!

We're Currently Looking for: CAPTAIN JOHN, TOSHIKO, people for the Torchwood Teams, Civilians, Aliens, Bad Guys, other Canon characters and more!

We're still looking for a lot of characters ranging from Death Eaters, Order Members, Ministry Employees, Alumni and Students alike. We're laid back and our focus is on character interaction and development, rather than canon and strict rules. We're tired of drama and just want to play, so egos are checked at the door. We're open to regular slash and femme slash. If it's possible in the Wizard World and can be explained logically, then it's generally accepted here.

~strings
there are just too many hp games out there that die because of inactivity. why do they go inactive? maybe because they lack freedom, plotting, or the boy who lived. in short, [info]strings is a different kind of hp game. we are epilogue, but we don't have a strict policy as to following canon. talk to us! we're very reasonable people.

over the years, most of us have grown to love our characters, no matter who you play. [info]strings has a variety of characters, all of whom are the babies of our babies. if you loved playing pansy parkinson, how about giving amelia flint, her daughter a chance? michael corner? mike's got three boys, for you! so many characters have been pigeon-holded (good guy, bad guy) in the hp rp world and [info]strings wants to break free from this. do what you want with your own character.

the game is called [info]strings because somehow or another, everyone is connected in the world. it might take 26 different degrees of connections, but a always goes to z. the game is relationship centered. there are no dark plot lines that cause every other person to die or anything like that. we're here for development and there is no better way to get into your character's head than to play them!

various elements have been changed. if you are a die-hard canon fan, this game might not be for you. we didn't like rowling's epilogue. sorry, loves!

PLOT RULES CHARACTERS PBs APPLICATION

The students who attended Hogwarts throughout the 1970s faced numerous challenges. They found themselves in a world on the brink of war. Upon entering the school, some were taking their first steps into a magical world that was completely foreign to them. Others had lived in it all their lives and were about to leave the safety of Hogwarts to see what the world had in store for them. How will these students react to the world that is constantly changing around them? Who will they become and what roles will they take up as the times shift? It is in their power to answer these questions. We know a little of what they will do outside of Hogwarts. Let's see how they got there.

This is a canon school-oriented Marauders-Era RPG that does recognize Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

It's February of 1972 and the Marauders are in their first year!

There are various familiar names and characters available now, including (but not limited to):

Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Hestia Jones, Fabian Prewett, Bertha and Albert Jorkins, Marlene McKinnon, Evan Rosier, Caradoc Dearborn, Antonin Dolohov, Ludo and Otto Bagman, Greta Catchlove, Narcissa and Bellatrix Black, Stubby Boardman, Xenophilius Lovegood, Rita Skeeter, Rodolphus and Rabastan Lestrange, Amycus and Alecto Carrow, and Emmeline Vance!

What if the Prophecy that made Harry Potter the 'Boy who lived' hadn't been given to the Dark Lord? What if a falsified Prophecy had been passed to him instead?

The year is 1995, When Harry, Ron and Hermione return to Hogwarts. A few changes have been made to the staff over the summer, the most noticeable being the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor; A Mr. Tom Marvolo Riddle. His new post is widely questioned by the wizarding world; The man has been convicted of murders throughout the seventies, why would Dumbledore hire him to teach young children? Dumbledore simply plays it off saying that he has applied "twice before". That he has not been able to be convicted of anything. Mr. Riddle has, after all, been studying abroad since the 1980's, and is very knowledgeable on his subject.

Most Wanted: James Potter, Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Peter Pettigrew, Luna Lovegood, Percy Weasley, Cho Chang, Ravenclaws and Death Eaters!

MOD RPG OOC AU BACKSTORY CHARACTERS RULES APPLICATION PBs INFO BUTTON CONTACTS

When the Dark Lord Voldemort died, he released a wave of magic. A sort of magic no one had record of, intensely powerful and with incredible ability and desire to correct the mistakes of the past and to punish those that had made them. He hoped to send himself into his body from twenty years earlier - which he did successfully. The brain of the Dark Lord in December, 1976 was suddenly filled with knowledge from the following twenty years. Sufficient knowledge, in fact, to attempt to kill Harry Potter and his friends one last time. Knowledge that put him at a great advantage over all the others in the time period.

Or so he thought.

Though intelligent and meticulous, the magic pouring forth from Lord Voldemort at the time of his death was uncontrolled and went in all directions. Adults were hit, including the recently deceased and nearly dead, sending their souls spiraling back in time. Even this would have been below Voldemort's radar, he would have found the knowledge of others unimportant compared to his own, and thus having his followers by his side would help him little. What he didn't expect was an added blessing - young people of Harry's generation were pulled back in time right along with him. Unlike the adults, however, who had an existing body to land in, the children of his time appeared seemingly from nowhere. There was no explanation for the students to appear in this way - sprawled across the grounds outside of Hogwarts Castle, in varying states of injury and disarray.

Dumbledore took them in and immediately their tale was told. It was winter holidays, so many of the students from Hogwarts had already gone home, leaving the castle largely empty. The few stragglers witnessed the arrival of these new students, but they were quickly silenced while Dumbledore helped Harry and his friends come up with a cover story. They would claim to be homeschooled students, and would be given pseudonyms. The story would be that Hogwarts was opening its doors for the first time ever to late admittances, on account of the increasing danger that witches and wizards were facing in the world. They were, under no circumstances, to tell anyone what their true story was. Secrecy was key. They didn't know how or why they'd been sent back in time, but it was obvious the level of danger they faced if they weren't careful.

Of course, Voldemort would not be fooled for long... and he had a whole new agenda this time around, with Harry Potter at the center of it.

Witchbreed;
An Elizabethan-Era Marvel RPG
Premise / Rules / Taken Characters / Wanted & Held / Apply

It is the Year of Our Lord sixteen hundred and two, and strange things are stirring in England.

For years, the stories have circulated of the Witchbreed: young men bearing strange abilities and magical powers; folk who can fly, kill at a touch or read a person's deepest secrets simply by looking into their eyes. And whether or not the tales are to be believed, those in power are apt to look upon the unfamiliar with fear and suspicion. Spain has responded most violently: the Inquisition persecutes anybody who looks different or appears to have supernatural abilities, burning dozens of people as Witchbreed. In England, Queen Elizabeth I has remained mildly tolerent of the Witchbreed; as long as they have not troubled her people, she has not seen fit to trouble them. She has thus far turned a blind eye to the operations of Spanish national Carlos Javier, who has established a haven for the strange new breed under the guise of a selective school for the sons of gentlefolk.

However, recent events have thrown England in disarray. The Queen has been assassinated by an unknown agent and James VI of Scotland has been propelled to the English throne. James, whose fear and hatred of the Witchbreed is legendary, was quick to lay the finger of blame on the creatures he so despises. He has dispatched men to capture and kill any known to be Witchbreed, and hefty rewards are offered to any who are able to identify or turn in anybody showing unexplained powers.

Meanwhile, in Domdaniel, Spain, the Grand Inquisitor Enrique himself has been revealed as one of the very monsters he hunts, secretly smuggling away any who could pass for human, gathering disciples - a Brotherhood of Witchbreed. He and his followers have escaped death at the stake and fled from Spain to whereabouts unknown, leaving behind them a heightened atmosphere of fear and suspicion.

The world is an increasingly unfriendly place for those who are different. Master Javier's college remains one of the few safehavens for the Witchbreed, but it seems only a matter of time before it, too, is uncovered by James' men.

Peace? In our labyrinthine wizarding world? Well, honestly, I didn't think it was possible. It seemed rather preposterous, even after his sensational defeat. Oh, I can barely remember what it felt like when we received the news. We heard it on our wireless right before we sat down for supper. He was gone, his enthusiasts were gone, but tragically: so were a lot of the people we knew. ( ... )

It is the year 2022. Another generation is at Hogwarts, and their time there has been considerably less dramatic than Harry's. However, things aren't as perfect as they first appear.

dis・per・sals
the process or result of the spreading of organisms from one place to another

San Fransisco, USA. It's a city known for its culture and long history; a city where people of all sorts come together and live in (relative) peace. But where there's people, there's crime, and San Fransisco is not without its criminals. Rapists, murderers, gang members -- a colourful jamboree of sin clumped together. Police officers and inspectors are constantly working, always on the move to put the criminals behind bars. And while this may seem like any other large city in any other state, San Fransisco carries with it a secret that, should it ever be revealed to the world, could corrupt the balance of the world as we know it.

Three sisters live in the suburbs of San Fransisco, nestled in a seemingly normal home just like any other house on the block. Everything appears normal on the inside and out -- they live like any other three sisters who remain close to one another into their adult lives. The oldest is the owner of a club, a mother and former chef who is well-known throughout the city for her exquisite cooking skills. The middle sister is a local celebrity, famous for her advice column for the Bay Mirror. And the youngest is a former social worker, though currently unemployed. Nothing about their situation seems out of the ordinary to anyone who's just passing by.

But these girls are not what they appear to be. The attic of their seemingly normal home harbours an ancient book filled with spells and information on creatures not of our everyday world. Demons and warlocks, fairies and wizards, potions and enchantments -- everything that one might normally find inside a fantasy story. And not only that -- the girls are actually the prophesized Charmed Ones, the three sisters who will protect the world from horrors that threaten our very existence. They fight for the sake of humanity on a nearly everyday basis with incredible powers.

Yet even though they are the ones who will eventually lead the world into an era of peace, no one could have expected events to take a turn for the worst. When they face a creature from another dimension, they did not anticipate a rip in the fabrics of reality. At first, it seemed like any other mission to save the universe from folding in on itself, something they had dealt with before. But when a threat greater than they could ever imagine escapes from his own world and sees potential in the planet he's found himself in, the Elders know the girls cannot defeat him on their own and begin to bring in support for the Charmed Ones -- heroes from other worlds. There's always a flaw in the grand design, though, and the leaders of the Underworld take the opportunity to pull some 'heroes' of their own from other worlds...

And that's when the battle begins -- the Charmed Ones and the support the Elders have provided them must work together in order to put an end to their mutual enemy. For if he succeeds, even the alternate realities and dimensions themselves will crumble...
