Help with CSS; thefulcrum #21 layout
I've been fiddling around with another of LJ!thefulcrum's Bloggish layouts, and I'd like to know a couple of things! At the moment I've uploaded the nearly-finished edited layout to the intended asylum, [info]arcanum_arx.

#1: Is there anyway I can remove or hide the name-of-journal from the layout?

#2: How can I implement two working background codes, so I can have the entry background picture (the original layout) plus a repeating background for the entire web page, as seen in the other Bloggish layouts from thefulcrum such as this one.

I had used that one tweaked with an extra repeating background instead of a colour, for various journals without any problems, like [info]the_cosmic_joke; so it has about four separate 'background' images and pieces of code in contrast to this layout's codes which I'm trying to edit.

I know you can't have two background images at once, so what do I need to do?

EDIT: I just noticed this: when I'm logged out, the entries are almost half the width of what they should be as you can see. When I am logged in, the entries are normal width. How can this also be fixed? D=

When you changed the part of the code to put in your header, you accidentally took out the display:none of the journal title and subtitle.

Just put

#banner h1,
#banner h2 {display: none;}

back in, and that will disappear.

And for your third concern, they look fine on the friends page, so if you make your entry a slightly longer one, it should cancel out the problem, if not actually fix it.

Ah, that was already missing from the original layout!

I tried that, but it just hid the banner =/

I'll go and try to see if that'll fix the entry problem, thanks.

Okay,

h1#banner-header, h2#banner-description {display: none;}

should deal with the title/subtitle.

Nah, it didn't work, the entry is still squashed.

Hey, I can totes help you out, can you copy the CSS you're using now, and paste it into an entry in that asylum? Preferably in a wide textarea? Something like this →

And yeah, you can have TONS of background images, you just can't have more than one per element? What images do you want where?

I don't need to, you can just see the CSS when you right-click/view source =D

I know how to view source code, and I have many an extension for css/html. I can get the css from the journal with ease, but when you ask for help from any sort of layout community (and I recognize your username from a few of the Bloggish ones on LJ), it's commonplace to put your codes in a text area for anyone willing to spend their time helping you solve your problems. Also, I personally don't like encouraging people to use page source to access CSS, because it tends to encourage people taking and using layouts that designers may have created for their own personal use, and don't want others taking.

Whoah, chill; I wasn't insulting your coding experience!

I provided the raw code because it's more helpful than raw code with no working journal linked as a preview.

I recognize your SN too, but.. it's irrelevant, as with the debate on layout theft. I don't accept theft, but I doubt that coders working on tweaking a layout together will increase the thefts of personal works.

Didn't think you were, I was just clarifying why I'd asked for the source code in the first place. :)

Cool; I've never had to provide the raw code (when it wasn't for forum code), as I just meet other coders who look past it and go can I see it live? do you have it up? X3 When, you know, its just been provided!
