Hogwarts Class Schedules
Below are class schedules for Hogwarts classes, years 5-7. Core classes are taught two houses per class, but other than that, there is no overlap for the teachers. Sadly, this system doesn't work if you try and expand it to all seven years, so I wouldn't suggest trying. (The teachers would need time-turners to get by, although oddly the students wouldn't nearly need one to take every single class. GoF!fail) I have no idea how to justify this detail and content myself with ignoring it, which is really easy since most games focus on the older students anyway.

This code was a composite effort between myself and [info]t_quibbler.

These are pretty handy! I've come to the conclusion that it's impossible to make a schedule that makes any sort of canon sense because JKR is so inconsistent in minor facts. BUT as a critique you should know that Divination & Arithmancy seem to share the same block all through canon, since Hermione took Arithmancy after dropping Divination in third year and it had the same time block every book following. And in that same respect I'd suppose other "additional" lessons like COMC, Muggle Studies, and Ancient Runes would also be paired in blocks to make it necessary for the Time Turner plot to be important and necessary.

Also, minor fact, but I'm pretty sure NEWT potions was taught with all houses sharing the same block since every house was represented in the first day of 6th year potions, [Gryffindor: Harry, Ron, Hermione. Ravenclaw: Michael, Terry, Anthony, 1 extra ravenclaw. Hufflepuff: Ernie MacMillan. Slytherin: Draco, Theo, Blaise, and I feel like I'm missing someone here].

That would also make it seem that other classes in the subsequent NEWT blocks could be scheduled the same way with all houses present... since it's expected that after OWLS students have the opportunity to drop a number of classes and are no longer required a full 9 class course load...at least in 6th year. Naturally 7th year class schedules are fair game since...no one really knows what happened during those.

That seems manifestly unfair to anyone who just wants to take Divination and Arithmancy, not every single elective, and the same goes for anyone else wanting to take the overlapping electives. So, yeah, I fudged a bit. These tables are about equal parts canon and 'WTF, mate? That's not how it should work.'

Same goes for the NEWTs. Not every class can suddenly have fewer students because then...where did the extra students go? They've got to be attending class somewhere.

lol fair or not that's how schedules work in education. Least, for the many years I've been in school there have always been scheduling conflicts where electives are concerned. ALAS!

And the NEWT argument could go on forever since no one really knows.
