I have a tag dilemma. I've set up my IC community to have nested tags to try and keep everything neat and clean. In this game there are both Canon and AU characters, so I've arranged them that way, but the "canon" and "au" part of the tag doesn't always nest correctly.

take a look. (The Marvel MCU tags are showing up correctly for example, while the Harry Potter tags are not)

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? It's driving me nuts.

	That's absolutely baffling since it seems like it's just the HP ones that aren't working properly and all of the rest are showing up (unless the nest is supposed to be there even if there aren't both canon and AUs available). Is it an automated script, or are you adding all of the tag items by hand? (Reply to this) (Thread)

	Yeah, it's completely baffling. I have no idea what's going on here. I've been adding them all by hand, but they're all correct as far as I can tell. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	I looked up the layout and played around a bit, and I think it might be coming down to tag length? But that still doesn't really make much sense given that some of the MCU tags are longer than the HP ones. But the script also seems pretty inconsistent in when it works and when it doesn't. It's probably just the script for the nested tag. It was so inconsistent with the tags it worked with when I was adding random things to my test layout.

Half the time, it would nest, but the tag wouldn't be there even after adding it to a random post. The other half of the time, the tag would show up, but the nesting wouldn't. It seemed to be having a harder time doing the longer tags properly, but there was no reliable length I could shorten them to in order to get them to show up all the time.

	Huh. Or it could be that there's just not enough tags in one category yet? I added a bunch of random extra ones along with the few I was testing, and that seemed to straighten things out. Which might be why the MCU ones are working perfectly, and the others are the ones not cooperating. As there's so many more of them. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	That had been a theory of mine as well, but I'm not sure how I would go about making that into a fix? Add random tags that will never be used? I feel like that would defeat the purpose of being organized lol (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Yeaaah. With that situation, the only way that things would get fixed would be with new players or, at least, new characters. Otherwise, you're just adding clutter and bulk that doesn't need to be there. You could maybe try rearranging the tags? Put AU and Canon as the primary nesting, and then do the fandoms as the secondary? (Reply to this) (Parent)
